Takes hours of paper work and condenses it to 30 minutes or less on the PC. Plus the efile is flawless and swift.
What's great about it: Easy, fast, data import capability
What's not so great: No free efile for state

2012 vs 2013 federal & state taxes

Last years TurboTax questions were a lot easier to follow. Had to go to the Federal and State booklets to make sure we were doing the right thing. I guess we will have to go back to the paper copies and mail our taxes in to feel comfortable that we got them right.
What's not so great: We had to go to the library to get booklets to get answers

Good Program

I've been using Turbo Tax since I started doing my own taxes (only a few years now) so I cannot compare it to other programs but I'm very happy with it. The download is quick and easy. It walks you through each step and has nice resources to get more information about each topic. It is easy to add information as forms come in and then review it all before submitting.
What's great about it: Easy to use and review
What's not so great: Tough to find answers when you don't know if something applies to you

It works, and gets the job done. Steps you through all applicable steps to get the job done.

What's great about it: Detailed, yet direct. No "Fluff"
What's not so great: Have not found any of significance.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Helpful for a first-time user

Overall this was a great first-time TurboTax experience. I was happy with the step-by-step instructions, however for some of the more detailed steps (such as those related to partial-year residency) the software referred me to the form instructions on the fed/state gov websites. This was disappointing because these were exactly the cases that I thought buying Turbotax would be an advantage. However, despite the frustration this was still a positive experience.
Also, I struggled with a malfunctioning section of my state tax return. Many others on the help center also had this same issue with the same section of the form. I ultimately received a TurboTax update which solved the problem, however, I never received a personal response from my question at the help center. It would have been great if someone from TurboTax had addressed the problem directly.
What's great about it: step by step instructions- mostly
What's not so great: software didn't update promptly

Easy

I was afraid I messed up this year because for the first time ever we had to pay. So I had a friend who has her own tax company check it and she couldn't find anything wrong.
What's great about it: You can do it around your schedule, if you are missing documents, you can stop until you have them
What's not so great: I'm afraid I might make a mistake eventhough it is easy and step by step
