I have DFAS Disability Retirement and have had for many years, but had trouble with TurboTax Federal efiling this year that I had never experienced. DFAS does not provide 1099-R as disability payments have no tax. I created one and it populated Row 16A, but 16B auto-populated "Rollover", which is incorrect. I overrode but was caught up in the error checking. I removed the 1099-R and did override on 16a & 16b with the correct information. Bypassed error check and was denied the ability to efile. This is a new and frustrating experience.

excellent product. My husband uses it for our taxes, which can be complicated as I'm a 1099 employee for several companies. Then I have always helped our children until each has moved out on their own. Even the years when our one son was sometimes in country and other times not your program made it simple. Now I just help the youngest who manages to work some at least one semester a year. Thank you for a straightforward product.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Tedious

After using TurboTax for many years it seems the process has become hard to progress through. No easy way to go back to specific areas for review. Overall experience was not very pleasant. Much more difficult that previous times used.
What's great about it: Calculation checking
What's not so great: Hard to navigate process

Taxes made easy

I have used this product for several years now and have always found it to be a vast, vast improvement over manually filing. Also nice not to have to share personal information with a filer who may or may not be discreet. The more you use it the easier it becomes. Saving and retrieving previous year's return makes the job a lot easier also.
What's great about it: Lead thru was easy to follow and made a usually painful experience pain free.

TurboTax did all the work

Unless you have lots of complex and questionable situations that need an accountant's expertise, use TurboTax. It's simpler and cheaper than a tax preparer and probably more accurate.
What's great about it: Simple, easy & accurate-it did all the work except enter data

Disappointed I didn't get a free e-file on my state. in the past I thought i got one.
