Easy Taxes

This was the first time in many years that I have not used a tax consultant. Easier, faster and less expensive! I almost look forward to doing my taxes next year.

The program was easy to use. Sometimes I didn't really know where to input some things, so most of the time I had to just keep pushing forward.
What's great about it: How easy this was to use.
What's not so great: I don't know, it's a little confusing at times.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I trust Turbo Tax!

Turbo Tax always exceeds my expectations! I am glad I bought the software even though I had to pay on my federal taxes!
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: going to the store to buy it

very disappointed you now charging to e-file taxes, you started that last year but thought you'd stop with the economy.
I think the cost of the TurboTax is enough because most really don't get a deduction from using it. thanks for listening

Some concerns

I have a concern re: a 401k excess contibution that had to be returned to me (My contributions failed the NDT test with the 401k plan ( I happen to be the plan trustee)) The 1099 states that it is fully taxable. However TurboTax did not treat it as taxable income. It was only $200 but it should should have been taxed at both State and Federal level. I think you have a program bug.
What's great about it: fast easy intuitive easy to search for answers
What's not so great: State filing fee fo $25!!

Overall a very good product. I have been using it since 1986. Some times the software tries to guess what the user may want and it is hard to go around these assumptions. For example, I wanted my state refund to be applied for next year. It did not ask me about this in the interview and assumed that I want it refunded. I manually entered the amount of refund in the line designated to apply the refund to next year in the state tax form. Another problem arose when I started the state return and wanted to enter the estimated tax payments made during the tax year. I had to search for the solution which indicated that I should have entered it while entering the data for the Federal Return. I would prefer a question to that effect at the appropriate place in the Fed interview or the State interview clearly asking for Estimated payments made for State Tax..
What's great about it: Interview method is good for new and experienced users.
What's not so great: Some assumptions by the software are not easy to remove

Simple Review

This was great. The only thing I wish this had was a HUD adviser where based on the lines of your final homeowner form, it will tell you what you can and can't deduct.
What's great about it: Year after Year Integration
What's not so great: Need a HUD helper on what is deductable
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments
