Fairly painless

All in all I enjoy using TurboTax and will continue to do so. Sometime us elderly people just get lost in the language.
What's great about it: This covers everything

Turbo Tax is easy to use. I have been using it for years. I like that I can purchase it early and take my time doing my taxes. If I need to make adjustments I can do so before filing. The price can't be beat. I did my Federal & State taxes for half the price my mom paid for a tax preparation company. Wouldn't think of doing it any other way.
What's great about it: You can take your time doing your taxes. It's all on your computer so you can make adjustments until you file.
What's not so great: Sometimes you need more detailed explanations and you must go hunting for the answers.

Social Security Experts

It would have taken me weeks to read all the regulations on how to handle a Social Security Payment generated over multiple years, but received in one lump sum in the current tax year. Thank you for saving me a huge amount of effort.
What's great about it: Handled the receipt of multiple years of SS payments easily
What's not so great: Needed to dig for a way to apply part of refund to next year's taxes

Turbo Tax makes preparing your income tax easy.

From year to year your prior information is loaded into the present year's return. You have two ways of entering your fiscal information; either let turbo tax walk you through it or do it yourself. You get quicker and more correct information when you use turbo tax question and answer part.
If you have to go back and change a figure in your return turbo tax will automatically adjust the amount you owe. It you hit any snags you can write a short question and submit it to the community. There you will find an answer or two.
Turbo Tax provides audit help for free. However if you don't want to face the IRS alone just purchase Tax Audit. The do a great job.

What's great about it: I have use Turbo tax for more than ten years and it is a snap to do.
What's not so great: Don't purchase the Tax Audit before you begen filing the return

Why does it cost me to file my State Tax electronically. If I were a high end income person that would be a drop in the bucket; but I am not. I object to paying more to e-file especially when I'm paying some tax. I don't want to pay someone to take money out of my account; seem counterintuitive to me.
What's great about it: Easy to use; calculations done electronically reducing personal error; lots of items identified to review.
What's not so great: Cost is getting higher every year. Also TT previously had one free State Tax e-file mechanism; no longer

I've used the program for over 30 years and it is still one of the best. The carry-over from year to year is worth the price. Filing out the State return is very easy. Also worth the price. (of course that doesn't mean that you should double the price! :=) ) Even though you change the user interface from year to year, you don't seem to lose the 'ease of use' and 'navigation' formula.
You have taken, what is for most people, a terrible subject and packaged it in such a way that it is almost painless. It's a great product.

What's great about it: Navigation is easy. When you leave the pgm, it brings you back to the same spot.
What's not so great: It did not ask for 'updates' until the very end. I like the option of updating each time I enter. Like it used to be!

I have filed my/our taxes for years . . .TurboTax is the best thing that has ever happened to tax time as far as I am concerned.
There have been years I have had to pay in and years I have received a refund. This program makes it so easy regardless of which way the money is going. I love TurboTax!

State printed return needed override

Software did not ask, and printed return did not answer question about how refund was to be returned (check, direct deposit, etc.). Had to go to form and override to add answer.
What's great about it: Easy to complete
What's not so great: State return not complete
