I purchased a version of turbotax which included a state return then when i was filing my return I was forced to pay for my state return again. Very unhappy. Will be emailing, and expect a refund.
What's great about it: Easy to use software, easy filing.

Taxes with Turbo

Overall I'm very pleased with this tax program. It takes you through step by step. I like that it compares this year's tax papers with what you filled out last year. It's another way of making sure you haven't missed something. Another plus is that all of the worksheets that you need are included.
What's great about it: Walk you through, step by step. Auto-fill if you used the program last year.
What's not so great: That feeling of not knowing if you missed something when an area your are filling out isn't clear.

Charging extra for state files, really?

I don't understand why you have to charge extra for filing my state return. We already pay extra for the TurboTax with Federal and State!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great first time

This was my first time using Turbo Tax and I have to say it really was as easy as everyone has always told me. This is a very intuitive program and I will make sure to refer it to anyone who ever asks me what they should do about their taxes.
What's great about it: I liked that I didn't have to guess very much.

2013 Return

I had to install software twice to get e-file to work. The second time it could not find my saved file, though it said the return had been sent. I use an IMAC with 10.6.08 Snow Leopard.
What's great about it: Easy to fill out
What's not so great: I had trouble e-filing.

Great overall, but deceptive changes push upgrades

The TurboTax Deluxe edition is great for routine tax situations with and even extensive itemized deductions. The problem with this year's version is the change that pushes a pricey upgrade to the Home and Business edition for people with independent contractor or "on the side" income reported on 1099-MISC forms that are eligible to file with Schedule C-EZ - pushing them to buy the version that will file the full Schedule C. The program deceptively shows that schedule C hasn't been done - even when it really has been in Schedule C-EZ form. It took me hours to figure out that the C-EZ and Self Employment taxes had been processed in the background. I wasn't happy with this tricky change - but I figured out how to make it work without the upgrade. TurboTax is still the best solution out there, but it shouldn't use that license to trick people into buying more than they need.
What's great about it: Great for routine tax purposes.
What's not so great: Pushes unneeded upgrade to Home and Business version.
