Problem with Illinois

Had no problems until Illinois tax return was rejected. Apparently there is a bug with the Illinois return if you are filing jointly. Hoping the 3rd time is the charm. If it works, it's because I didn't use the AGI for the 2nd person on the return, but used our zip code as the ID. The instructions to fix the problem didn't work, because unless you don't use the AGI for ID purposes on the 2nd person, you never get the option of correcting the other means of ID. Like a said, it appears there's a bug. Hoping the 3rd time is the charm after talking to tech support.
What's great about it: It's usually very easy to interpret and input the correct information.
What's not so great: Glitch with Illinois

Thankful that last year's return information is transferred when working on my tax return for this year! Also feel confident in having the frequent updates - one less thing I have to keep up with.

Easy taxes

Turbo Tax makes simple tax preparation easy in a step by step format. If your not sure they give you a box that opens and displays additional information with more information selection included. They have the community line displayed on the pages as you prepare your taxes. They give you the option to file online or my mail, as well as explain the time frame for both. I like the email notices on the progress of your taxes.
What's great about it: easy to use, easy to understand,easy to go back
What's not so great: the fee for the "free state taxes"?

Still the best after 30 years!

I started using TurboTax in the 1980's when it first came out on a 5 1/4" floppy disk and, other than 2 years when I started a business & had to use an accountant, have never waivered.
What's great about it: My return was simple, all necessary questions were asked.
What's not so great: No cons

Made it easy

I have used Turbo Tax a number of years. It was easier to use than in the past even though I had the complication of needing to file two state returns this year because I moved.
The Intuit products make this job (except the paying part) easy.
What's great about it: All the questions were understandable
What's not so great: no cons

Fits my tax prep needs well

I work on taxes over several weeks, entering much of the data manually or by searching Quicken for items. Some investment data is downloaded from brokerage firms, but when data is available from statements and also 1099 or 1098 forms that arrive later, there is risk of duplicating entries. I had to amend 2011 and 2012 when real estate tax was duplicated on worksheets.
What's great about it: like being able to switch between forms and step by step
What's not so great: risk of duplicate entries

Great Way to File a Totally Insane Tax Code

Despite having a post-graduate degree in Engineering, I find filing tax return a tremendous waste of time. Turbo Tax is a boon. However, its way past time to trash this tax code. It's a drain on national productivity. It has too many things one has to go through which does not create any revenue in over 90% of the cases. We all talk about it but nobody takes any action to simplify this nightmare.
What's great about it: Guides you through most of the data input
What's not so great: Asks sometimes for unnecessary explanation
