Every year TurboTax gets dummied down even more. It has become tedious instead of intuitive and helpful. The itemized deductions parts are just becoming painful
What's great about it: It most works fine
What's not so great: Designed for idiots; no feed back on energy tax credit denial; often tedious especially when itemizing charitable deduct

Just finished my return

I could not figure out what some of the explanations provided in theHelp section. However, after completing a search online for these item, I came across the blog for Turbo Tax, which was very helpful. Not sure if there is a link to this webpage in Turbo Tax blog, but it might br helpfulto do so,
What's great about it: I was able to move through this year's taxes quicker than previous years
What's not so great: Not enough details in some of the explanations

Log in to TD Ameritrade did not work

The only complaint is that I could not log on to TD Ameritrade. (Last year I could). Tried several times but no luck. Ended up entering the data manually. Luckily I did not have many stocks to type in. In case I had many more, no connection between Turbotax and TD Ameritrade would have really time consuming.
(I believe Turbotax did this intentionally to force users to by the premium version. Last year I did not need to use the Premium version in order to connect to TD Ameritrade.)

Great Tax software

I have only used Turbo Tax so far. The document download feature saves a lot of time. The step-by-step guidance is also great and particularly helpful to those who do not know much about tax laws.
Can't imagine filing tax return without tax software!

I started my return well ahead of time but didn't get back to it until today. When I got the section on computing Washington state sales tax there was a calculation but evidently it didn't enter a value because the software wasn't up-to-date. When I got near the end (the first time) the software updated but did not automatically go back to the sales tax computation. In fact I went through all the software checks and double checks and said no errors were found even though there was a significant deduction last year (I've been using Turbo Tax many years) for state sales tax. Of course when I restarted at the same return at the beginning and finally got to the sales tax section, the updated software asked the right for the specific rate and made it calculated the correct amount and entered it into my return. Knowing how bullet-proof your software has been, this situation made me take pause about past returns. I'm reporting this because you MAY want to make a change. I'm still a Turbo Tax fan and will purchase it again next year. Just wanted you to have the option to continue your perfect reputation.
What's great about it: quicker this year
What's not so great: missed state sales tax the first time

Form did not help with State sales tax. Kept saying IRS had not completed the form. Did I want an email when IRS had completed the form. Then I manually completed Form 4868. Then I got a message " Did I want to update TurboTax".
What's great about it: Efficient
What's not so great: Turbotax did not autoupdate
