There also were times when the program seemed to get out of sync. Example when I was entering W2 info and it didn't seem to pull up last years info. Once I reentered my W2 info it came back with both my new info and had now referenced the old W2 info from last year. I had to delete the new info. so it didn't look like I actually had two W2's from the same employer.
Overall my experience was OK but seemed easier and more thoughtful and intuitive in earlier versions. AS you progress thru different sections, It would be nice to be able to preview info from last years return before it shows up side by side as you complete sections. It would also be nice to see several years of returns side by side to compare your deductions and info from previous years .
What's great about it: Overall a good experience
What's not so great: the validation issue at the end cost me several hours….the eFile would not send even though my program was up to date.

Wont' ever go without it, PERIOD...

At first I was skeptic, I've been doing my out taxes (manually, by hand# for over 48 years. I did not want to go this route;
but due to e-filing, routing, and electronic/computerization of
most all things and the ever mounting complications involved
I gave Turbo-tax a shot in 2012.. Halfway through the process I was about ready to give up.. BUT, after talking to a couple of people @ work, they insisted to just press on and you would see all of the advantages in the end. Let me tell
you, what a great job this software is and has been written with very clear instructions, meticioulus record keeping. I still have my 1040's from 1966-2012. I wouldn't go without it now. Great staff and IT people. You guys/gals defenitely did a fantastic job of putting all this together in a user friendly platorm.

For Michigan state tax return, if you are a senior citizen age 68 or older, you can deduct the dividend/interest/capital gains from the US 1040 adjusted gross income. .
Tubo tax has some problem input the deduction for people 68 and over. Transfer the interest/ divindend deduction into line 26 in the MI-1040 form.
Turbo tax, please review this problem and make proper corrections. Help Michigan senior citizen get their proper refund..

What's great about it: Turbo Tax for federal tax return is good.
What's not so great: Turbo Tax has some flaws for Michigan tax return.

UP-DATING WAS DOWNGRADING

I HAVE BEEEN USING TURBO TAX FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS. THIS IS THE 1ST TIME UPLOADING OUTSIDE ACCOUNT INFO WORKED... SWEET... W-2, SCOTTRADE ETC. I WOULD RECOMEND YOU UP-DATE BEFORE STARTING NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TAKES, I FINISHED AND COULD NOT PRINT, VERY FRUSTRATING. FOR WHAT EVER REASON IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS SEVERAL HOURS TO UP-DATE!
What's great about it: IMPORTING DATA
What's not so great: UP-DATING SEVERAL ATTEMPTS SEVERAL HOURS

The tax return is easy to follow. I would like to see my past two years numbers by category without having to go into every category. I would like to have my bank account information transferred from fed tax to state tax. I would like to be able to pay my state eFile fee by deduction from my state return.
What's great about it: easy to file long form fed and state
What's not so great: Doesn't transfer bank acct info from fed to state return. Doesn't let state eFile charge come from state refund.
