I’ve been using turbotax for years and overall I’m happy with out it operates. There are a few issues that could use improvement. It would be nice if all of the information from the previous year’s return were used answering questions from this years returns. There are a number of time where I’ll have to open the previous years return to get numbers. Also some of the errors I received in the “error check’ were because items were left blank in certain forms. I’m not sure how this happens since the step by step guide either should or does collect this information.
What's great about it: thorough step by step guide, easy to follow
What's not so great: Objective of the questions is not alwasy clear

Marginal call at doing this again. The e-filing needs a lot of work. Took me almost an hour just to give up.
What's great about it: Transfer information from previous year
What's not so great: That mess at the end trying to E-file and added hidden expenses and the thing wouldn't E-mail a PIN.

Very thorough piece of software. I really like that fact that I don't have to download and fill out all of the federal and state forms and that Turbo Tax identifies the forms that I need and prompts me for the information, and it does this prompting in a way that really informs me of what each deduction means.
What's great about it: In second year of use, it was fairly fast and easy
What's not so great: In first year of use, it can be a challenge to go through all of the screens
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I considered this program very helpful and easy to use. It would have been more helpful if you could have been alerted of the updates when they were available. Overall, I was pleased with Turbo Tax.

Over the years, access to help menus, especially context sensitive help has decreased. Things seemed to work better when everything was contained on the CD or DVD in the box and that information was loaded onto the hard drive or the CD/DVD was accessed directly from the drive bay. Now, stuff resides on the Intuit server and must be accessed via internet, and it isn't as user friendly. Specific instructions are more difficult to access.
The questions for the interview mode of entry seem to have unnecessary steps before getting down to entering data. It seems like the interview process could be streamlined a bit.
What's great about it: Generally works
What's not so great: Less helpful/user friendly than any previous version since 1995
