Makes it easy

This is a easy product to use and makes taxes easy. This year I had the complication of commercial fishing, freshman student in college, etc. and Turbo Tax made it easy to walk through.
What's great about it: uses past returns; helps spell out new rules
What's not so great: ? Stil looking for that
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

1099 Misc Income

I tried everything I could think of to get two 1099 Misc income to go to my Sch F form. It needs to be simpler to put it where you want. It now put it on Sch C even and it has the same name as my farm? Crazy stuff. I had to change it to Non-employee compensation to get to anywhere near where I wanted it. Even then it would not take it to Sch F where I wanted it. Very frustrating. I been using Turbo for many years and this is the most trouble I have ever had. I finally gave up and left it on Sch C even though that is not where it belongs.
What's great about it: easy to enter
What's not so great: can't get it to the right place

after printing forms iI had to go back to programs to get back to turbotax. There should be a return button on the screen

REJECTED MULTIPLE TIMES

My pin numbers were the main problem. I called the toll free number in the program and the pin #s just got me another rejection. Then after 6 rejections I used the GET A PIN NUMBER button and got 2 old pin numbers--one was different in that I had apparently heard a different number on the phone. My hearing is not good. Finally, after much frustration--it worked!
What's great about it: I learned to follow directions.
What's not so great: It took 7 rejections to get the acceptance.

What's not so great: HSA instructions could be better. Program does not like two single ins. plans when married filing jointly.

WHAT HAPPENED TO TURBOTAX

THIS HAS BEEN THE WORST YEAR EVER USING TURBOTAX. FIRST, IT WOULD'D LET ME MAKE CHANGES TO FORM 8949. SECOND, I WANTED TO ELECTRONIC FILE MY FEDERAL RETURN AN MAIL IN MY STATE RETURN, BUT EVERY TIME I CHECKED THE STATE MAIL IN BUTTON IT WOULD ALWAYS REVERT TO E-MAIL. I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO PRINT OUT A STATE MAIL-IN RETURN. THIRD, WHEN I WENT TO TRANSMIT THE RETURNS, IT COULD NOT VERIFY THEM AND SAID TO MAIL THEM IN.
I WILL NOT BE USING TURBOTAX FOR 2014.

phone chat people were as helpful as possible even though this year she was unable to help me with my question. We did read through the reg together and figured it out as best we could. I asked a friend who is a CPA just to verify and we did a good job together!
What's great about it: covers everything
What's not so great: trying to update after it already has updated itself
