Low Stress

One of my secretaries some 12 odd years back informed me of Turbo Tax and recommended that I use it. I had had a bad experience with a professional tax preparer. With Turbo Tax there is a cogent confidence that can be verified from year to year. Thank you Turbo Tax.

It was easier than ever to breeze through the questions and input all my info. I feel very confident in this process.
What's great about it: Easy and simple to use even for a beginner.
What's not so great: I can't think of any.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Miserable experience.

The instructions suggested to solve the problem by rebooting my computer. This erased all I had entered. The program does not give you the option to E-file your federal forms and mail the State forms.
What's great about it: Quite easy to follow.
What's not so great: Program refused to E-file my federal form.

I had a hard time going back and making adjustments for certain categories. The most challenging was my new car purchase. I didn't have the exact numbers when I entered it the first time and when I went back in I couldn't access that screen again. I even went so far as to start the whole process from the beginning and go through every screen and the new car purchase never came back up.
What's great about it: Quick for uncomplicated taxes
What's not so great: Hard time going back and making changes

Another year with TurboTax

I have been using TurboTax for many years. I haven't used other software packages for taxes so I can not compare this with others. I have had a CPA service do our taxes one year and an attorney another year. In both cases I had to take the returns back for corrections when I reviewed them. So far TurboTax has saved me money every year when compared to taking them to a CPA or attorney for filing. I plan to continue using TurboTax in the future.
What's great about it: Transfer of prior years data, many calculations handled
What's not so great: Don't remember anything specific. Every year is a learning experience probably mostly due to tax law changes.

NO HAIR PULLING!

Having just filled in a form needed for a different return and used the IRS website directions, I am so grateful that Turbo tax is so easy to read and understand! It doesn't make you try to make sense of area's that aren't relivent to your situation, just walks you through it in simple yes, no questions

What's not so great: goes throu a few areas too many times if you don't need them

Taxes were easy to complete and I liked that I was able to go back in and review a couple of dates and double check some numbers.

Disappointed in having to mail return

Was charged twice to do the same return since I was not connected to a printer on laptop. Ridiculous!
