Easy

When I started I was not looking forward to do my taxes too drawn out, when I finished it was way quicker then I thought. even though we had a simpler return than some. we sold stocks and had an inheritance. The large refund paid for the product 10 fold+. each year it gets easier.
What's great about it: Quick, and fun yes i said FUN
What's not so great: don't haveany
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

had to paper file this year - turbotax let me down

Turbotax worked well this year as always except for a particular situation which caused me to paper file instead of efiling. Took an RMD from an IRA and then rolled over the remaining balance to another brokerage firm. The original firm reported the whole balance as a total distribution with no coding for a rollover, which made the whole amount taxable. As a tax volunteer using another software program, this would have been easy to deal with - has a way to include rollover amounts no matter what the coding is. Tried everything with Turbotax and queried help several times. Only suggestion was to generate two fake 1099's to get proper data entered. I did that and got the "correct answers", but was nervous about efiling incorrect forms - thus the paper filing. Had I not been a reasonably experienced tax preparer who knew what should be happening, I would have freaked out seeing that I owed about $40,000 to the IRS!!! Only choices I got in using the software were, (1) - did you roll this into an HSA or (2) did you donate any of this to charity? Where was the third option - did you rollover into a new IRA within 60 days? Won't be an issue for me again, but needs a fix for others in the future.
What's great about it: easy to use, covers most situations, like the carryover data from year to year
What's not so great: Didn't have a way to show IRA rollover

K1s are very confusing!!

For example, the information one gets with the K1s are almost in a different language for us non-accounting types. Can you explain which number from which box goes where?
What's great about it: I appreciate your simple approach to K1s. I love your product, but K1s are still too confusing.
What's not so great: But, the explanations are not simple enough for my mind! Please dig deeper an make more thorough, detailed explanations

I've used TurboTax for over 15 years and I like the professional way my forms look. I also like e-filing my federal return.
Things I'd like to see improved include:
- larger font
- more contrast on the "continue" buttons
- I would like the "back" button to go back just one slide. it seems to have a mind of its own.

What's great about it: I am familiar with doing my taxes with TurboTax. I've been using it for over 15 years.

Although I like the step by step preparation I sometimes feel like everything is not being covered. I would almost prefer that your process followed the 1040 line by line so you would always know where you were at in the tax preparation.
What's great about it: Quick, simple, and easy
What's not so great: Too quick and simple that not sure all items were covered.

Oh So Easy!

As always, a very good software platform with an easy map through the tax mine field. I suggest you add a few more prompts for job search deductions. I had a lot of mileage in my 3 month job search in 2013, much of which was 50+ miles from my home. But, there was no explanation for calculating the deduction for those miles, or, an explanation that they aren't deductible. I was only able to count the parking fees.
What's great about it: Step By Step "Low Blood Pressure" Guide

The step by step process is very easy to follow, and the e-filing is really easy.
