Couldn't be Easier

I have been using Turbo Tax for about 20 years. All of the right forms are automatically selected, all of the IRS publications are available to explain what is needed and professional help is available to explain the IRS forms. This help is in the form of embedded videos of tax professionals providing the explanations.
Each year, the info from previous years is automatically populated, which saves time, particularly when it comes to listing the charitable organizations.
What's great about it: Forms are auto selected, all IRS forms are available, professional help is available, last year's info is auto populated
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Completing and Filing with Turbo Tax

I've been using Turbo Tax for many years now. The software reliably walks you through the forms and offers questions to help you get the best refund. It found deductions I wouldn't have on my own.
The only issue I had this year was trying to make sense of the information needed for our home refinancing. I spent some time researching what information from the HUD-1 should or should not be included in the return since the options given by the software didn't exactly apply to our situation. I did finally find a suitable option and am satisfied with the outcome.

No Refund - but no trouble filing either

I've used Turbo Tax for decades and it has just gotten better with time, BUT I almost overlooked my capital gains that were reported on a 1099 form. What was worse was the 1099 repot was on the back of a DIV - INT 1099 so on the first pass I just overlooked these forms. Suggest you update Turbo Tax to as "Any additional 1099 reporting other than 1099-DIV and 1099-INT?"
What's great about it: Liked the guided tour
What's not so great: Almost overlooked my 1099 capital gains because I wasn't prompted to enter that particular form

What's not so great: confusion with business income and expenses

great. However, there was one flaw. It had no information on my states sales tax deduction so it added the state tax instead. It said it would be out by december 2013. However, I bought the software in february. I ran an update and there was some files updated but it did not show that I needed to revisit the state sales tax section. I went to the Irs sales tax calculator by state and input the data myself into the Form. If there are updates or changes made, the software should alert you so that you can review that section.

Turbo Tax 2013

I dislike doing taxes, (who doesn't?) but Turbo Tax makes it much easier than any other method. The cost difference between Turbo Tax and an accountant is over $400, so I will use Turbo Tax again.
What's great about it: Imports from brokerage, step by step directions, imports from last year's tax return
What's not so great: Updates keep coming in as tax day approaches
Pros: I bought or sold investments
