VERY DETAILED!

We've used Turbo Tax for at least 15 years-fantastic program for both home and home office/small business! Highly recommend this program to anyone who can answer questions!!
What's great about it: Love the step by step questions!
What's not so great: No down side that I've ever experienced
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

This year's version has issues

This year's version was not as flawless as previous editions. Had several issues, tried to search help forums, tried to find a phone number (which is promised on the front help splash page) but it is too well hidden. Never found it.
State form was asking me to fill in details for miscellaneous income referenced from some Federal tax form. But there is no miscellaneous income on any Federal tax form.
Instructions for recharacterizing excess Roth IRA payments are confusing at best, and even flawed. Thank goodness that my financial trustee was able to provide clear and correct information. Then, the worksheet which calculates the current year's Roth IRA contribution double dipped the recharacterization and made it appear that I contributed much less than I actually did.
Again, tried to get help, but it was nowhere to be found.
I can only hope that my tax forms are correct.

What's not so great: Help is non-existent or too well hidden. Instructions are flawed.

Not sure on anything. I have very little faith in return even with the review and checking. This has been a very confusing file period with the constant changing and poor explanations. I found myself looking into every area that effected my return and then sum.
Very poor for such a simple return.
What's great about it: Compared to previous years, it was poor
What's not so great: Entering Pension data, confusion on simple items and help

The best tax expert

So easy to use, it leads you by the hand all the way!!!
Last year i went to an accountant to prepare my taxes and also used Turbo Tax, The Results were identical, and TT was a whole lot cheaper!!

2014 review of tax filing

a side panel or pull down box to show recent steps would be good with the ability to click on them and go back from there.
As to the cost. I paid for 2 states, then you charge for filing. That is too high. At least give me a discount on the second state. And let me know that full cost to buy and file, up front. I feel like you were hiding something. Not very good for a service that is should be rooted in the highest degree of honesty,.
What's great about it: most steps were very well presented. The ability to go back is very imporant.
What's not so great: I think the full price for filing in the states is too high

I have used Turbo Tax for the past three years. It makes the complicated process very simple!
What's great about it: Easy to do !
What's not so great: Update forms were not availabe and held up my return.
