Easy, as always

Turbotax seems to get simpler every year. It only took me a fraction of an afternoon to breeze through my Federal and State returns, and my tax situation is not the simplest. Very satisfied.
What's great about it: Very straightforward in all details
What's not so great: None in my situation
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax Review
on April 5, 2014

Over all, I was satisfied on Turbo Tax and I will probably use it again next year for 2014 file. What I love about it is easy to navigate, clear and simple explanation on each screen and let me go back and forth in case I missed anything. In additional it helps me educate how I can maximize the return so I can prepare better for next year.
At the very end, I did have an issue on e-filing. It said that I needed to check for updates on software which I know I did everything..... after a couple tried, it worked fine, but I would be frustrating if I couldn't do e-filing because I already paid for it. I really don't want to old-fashioned mailing, this would completely defeat the whole purpose of using Turbo Tax. I hope this will not happen again next year because i spend at least 30 min to solve this issue...
What's great about it: Easy to navigate. Easy to understand.
What's not so great: Had difficulty on e-file.

Because of higher fees I will try a different version next year.
What's great about it: Loads and retrieves info quickly
What's not so great: Doesn't adjust military 10994 and fees are more than some other versions

Couldn't import W-2
on April 5, 2014
Posted by: Johnc2014
It was pretty much the same as other years. Philadelphia wage tax was handled considerably better. It's been a pain in the past. I wasn't prompted to import W-2 information until after I entered everything manually and went on to the "other income" interview. On line help was useless. The first step said "find the import W-2 tab". It was very frustrating. I may use an accountant next year.
What's great about it: Got all my personal info from last year. Phila. wage tax worked this year
What's not so great: Could not find import W-2 until after I manually entered information

Other Medical Deductions...
on April 5, 2014

I noticed in 2012 Tax Software and also in this years' software (2013) continuously took me back to the "Other Medical Deductions" Section when I got to the Review Errors Section.
That section seems to be a little confusing. Even though I didn't put anything in this section when I went through it originally, it came up as an error. I think I had to put 0.00 in boxes referring to this section but I didn't have anything to enter in this section in the first place.
After running a few error checks and going back to that section and I finally seemed to have corrected whatever error was there.
I didn't have any problems with any part of the return except this particular section, however, it could have been something about that section that I missed the first few times and after running a few error checks, finally got it.
If anyone else had problems with the "Other Medical Deductions" Section, maybe it should be looked at to see if it could be improved for Tax Year 2014
What's great about it: The Software Overall is very good
What's not so great: Other Medical Deductions Section Could Be Improved

Filling out the federal wages section I added my income correctly in every column but the medicare wages. I missed the decimal point. Error check didn't find this and the difference was 2600 dollar mistake.
What's great about it: Details and quickness
What's not so great: missed simple error
