Very Helpful and Stress-free!

I get so stressed preparing my taxes. I've got a small rental property that used to be so hard to get right. This year's Turbo Tax really made it simple. I have to hand it to Turbo Tax, you all are definitely making improvements that help a lot!! I might even do my taxes early next year.
What's great about it: Tax preparation seemed easier this year. It only took 2 hours!
What's not so great: No problems, it all went smooth.

TurboTax is a great easy way to do your taxes! I have used TurboTax for many years and have had no problems. This year it only took me about 2 hours to complete.
What's great about it: I like that the software imports my previous information for me!!

I suggest that if there is a problem that won't be fixed by updates that the update process at least alerts user, e.g. "Using a Mac -- check FAQ's if your e-fiie won't transmit". I tried for an hour to figure out the problem, reworking input on a couple of forms, updating 4-5 times, and finally went to ask online question and discovered the problem applied to many Mac users and the solution took just a few minutes.
What's great about it: Several forms of help -- online, chat, phone
What's not so great: Need updated warnings that aren't covered by updates

TurboTax '13 Not as Great as Previously

We've long relied upon TurboTax to assist us in preparing our income tax reports. For the first time ever, we leave the process disappointed owing to the numerous and repeated crashes of TurboTax during the preparation phase. This wasted precious time and caused considerable angst as my wife and I were never sure the info we'd already submitted would be recoverable. Another disappointment was the increase in e-filing our state return. We may again use TurboTax next year, but then again we may also explore what other options are available in the marketplace.
What's great about it: Familiar approach to preparation
What's not so great: Crashed repeatedly, higher cost to e-file

2013 fed and state

This is 5th year of using TT. Gets better every year. Tracking last year's data and being able to go online to get W2 and 1099 data is a great time saver.
Error checking seems to work very well.
Finally got the foreign taxes paid (not from income) straightened out in both Federal and State returns. A couple of years ago the state return bounced because TT handled it incorrectly.
Sometimes some of the form data is not filled in, and one has to go to forms view and fill it in manually. No big deal once I figured out how to do it.
What's great about it: uses last years data, auto fill from 1099's
What's not so great: sometimes leaves off data on forms

Good, but . . .

The walk-through was easy and left me feeling confident that I was directed to every possible deduction. But when it came time to e-file, the return was rejected three times. I finally ended up having to email my federal and state returns, leaving me wondering if I am going to be charged three times for a state return that never made it through the e-filing process.

Package annoyance

For older folks you need to be more instructive about the "security" part of the disc. The "push here" is in black as is the center - Put a note in the file and/or print the "push here" in white so that feeble people like may can get it out easily. Of course, I cracked it in the process of trying to remove it and then had to repurchase - makes an unnecessary expense to seniors.
