Had to go to Forms and MI1040D and activate the form to get the c/o loss to go from the Fed return to the State.
What's great about it: Straightforward, easy to follow
What's not so great: Federal Carryover Loss did not automatically c/o to State

I still like TurboTax overall and have used it for over 10 years now. But I still get asked to look up info on forms from last years return - I do not understand why this is. I have used turbotax so long I would think it could look it up from last years return. This part of the software is poor.

Almost Makes Taxes Fun...almost.

I like the way that my past year's information can be brought over to the current year. I also like the comparison to the past year. That is a good way for me to check for errors in entries. TurboTax is so organized in the questions and the helps it gives when I am not sure what I am looking for. And I really like the pricing helps for donated items. That really makes it easy to document.
What's great about it: I really liked the way the program found my entry errors.
What's not so great: I actually don't like doing my taxes but Turbo Tax is great! I guess the con is taxes.

My experience would have been a lot easier had I been using Turbo Tax every year instead of just beginning!!

TT picked up my checking acct from last year for my fed taxes, but I had to enter it for my state and local taxes. Why can't it transfer the data to my state info? It's been a pain over the years for IRAs. I usually have to manually go to form 8606 rather than TT taking mr there. For correcting errors, it doesn't take me back to the area where the info was entered so it is hard to figure out what is wrong without reference info.
What's great about it: Keeps track of investment info year to year
What's not so great: Makes it a pain to restart since I have to reenter stuff I already entered.

Not able to E-File... Fail.

My wife and I have used TurboTax for about 8 years now, and this year (2013 taxes) TurboTax failed us on the E-File ability. The program was overall the same as it usually is, but there was an error in the software that would not allow us to E-File, and this is where a lot of the convenience of this program comes into play. Without being able to E-File, I consider this a failure in the program. I had to pay for the State E-File and then it explained to me that I would not be able to E-File. Terrible. I will reconsider using TurboTax from here on, unless a refund for the software program and E-File is given for this mistake. They might be losing a customer...
What's great about it: Use of computer program to create forms and walk through all possible deductions.
What's not so great: This years program failed on being able to E-File due to for 5045 error with TurboTax program.

Overall, a good way to go to file your taxes.
What's great about it: All of the assistance with prompts.
What's not so great: Some of the questions asked did not match items on sale of home settlement statement.
