Turbo Tax 2013

Detailed walk through of Fed and State returns. Easy navigation, good explanations, cost is reasonable and mad my tax prep time shorter and less expensive than hiring an accountant. Even though my returns are pretty straight forward I would think the prep fees by a Tax Professional would be several hundred dollars. So Turbo Tax is a bargain. Suggestion: even though I do not have a ton of investments, I feel that the "Turbo Tax Deluxe" should have a more beefy investments assistance without having to upgrade to "Turbo Tax Premiere".
Overall a solid product and I would recommend it. Good stuff!
What's great about it: Detailed walk through of both Fed and State returns. Easy navigation, great assistance, overall good stuff!
What's not so great: Nothing that came to mind.

I will never buy turbotax again because the cost for the state filing was deceptive.
What's not so great: state taxes can be done for free on the pa website. it was not disclosed on the packaging that i would have to pay.

Worst time of my life

The 1116 form was confusing. I tried deleting an extra 1116 (copy1) several times, it would not delete. My taxes were filed with 2 of these forms. Not enough basic information to understand what needed to be filled in for the blocks. When I imported last year’s taxes none of the 1116 information was imported. My friend has talked me into giving this one more try next year. If I have as much difficulty as I did this year, I will go back to paying someone to prepare my taxes for me.
What's great about it: Less than the $250 I normally pay
What's not so great: Confusing, frustrating, Irritating

Excellent Product

The product is excellent overall. The questions are in depth and cover the full gamut of possible situations for the taxpayer. I love the product user interface. The buttons are placed well, the listing of topics is well organized and intuitive. I do recommend that you use more of the screen for the windows. Instead of making the window cover half the screen and then scroll down, it would be better to spread it out across the screen so it's all visible all at once.
What's great about it: The thoroughness of the questions, the user interface, and the wealth of information
What's not so great: Uses only part of the screen and must scroll down to see the list of topics

Did not qualify for electronic filing???
on April 5, 2014

During the error checking stage, TurboTax claimed that it was a mistake to have a W2 with 0.00 in Box 1. Due to this error, I was not able to file electronically.
I had multiple W2s from the same employer since I worked in two different states. The employer put all Federal Income in Box 1 on the first W2 and 0.00 in Box 1 of the second W2. The income for each state was separated on the individual W2s. This seems correct to me, since if the same income was in Box 1 on both W2s i would being paying federal taxes on the same income twice.
The ability to file electronically is one of the key reasons that I buy this software. Since I can not use this feature, I do not feel that the software is worth the price. There should be a disclaimer that states that free federal electronic filing is not available for all users.
This seems more like a bug in the software to me, and not an IRS restriction. Of course, if I was an expert on the tax code, I wouldn't be using this software in the first place.
What's not so great: Did not qualify for electronic filing...wish I had known
