good software depending upon mode use

The expert mode is excellent, can input quickly and review results easily. Love ablility to print individual forms as needed and guidance is decent. If you work in expert mode can input, review and file a tax return all in one day if paperwork is assembled.
Cost of the software varies by store and I am a little tired of having to shop for it to get a decent price. The price should be fixed everywehere to avoid this every year. If you buy at base retail, it is too expensive.
What's great about it: quick and easy to input data when in "explore on my own" mode
What's not so great: lengthly Q&A process in a lot of the input screens and cost of software

I have been a loyal customer of Turbo Tax for more years than I can remember. Very affordable & extremely thorough. My daughter used a professional tax service & her forms looked exactly like Turbo Tax. And a whole lot more money, too. I will use Turbo Tax every year that I need to file. Thanks for the continued improvements!
What's great about it: Very user friendly, fast & detailed. Asked all the right questions, and others I would have never even thought of.
What's not so great: None that I can think of.

Used Turbo Tax for many years. Only issue is there is no help when you are stuck.
What's great about it: Good step by step instructions, accurate filing

The biggest problem I have is learning to be patient and not over think the process. In other words trust the program.

Turbotax is better than best!

I have used Turbotax for over 10 years to do my taxes. It is money well spent, and much more accurate than going to those "tax preparation" places.

Online Tax Return

The donation work package was very beneficial once I got the drift of it. Most data was easy to understand. I went all over the place trying to find the Locality Name which wasn't on any of my W-2G's. I used Google to find out that most Casinos W-2G's end at block 14 so there isn't any Locality Name. This should be updated. Oh Yes, one other thing. For the Sales taxes, I had a heck of a time trying to find where I could enter the actual sales taxes I paid vs the computed taxes. This should be made more clear. I didn't see anywhere that it would recommend that I pay estimated taxes. Would this be part of this Turbo Tax program if it applied? Other than that I found that I'll probably be doing my own taxes from now on.
What's great about it: Charity Donation Work Package
What's not so great: W-2G entries need update

Just OK

Too much is hidden behind the interview process. Stuff that was required last year (like entering all of the charity information) is simply gone without explanation.
Flagging topics has improved, but ability to quickly zoom to a specific page has gotten worse, so there's lots of extra runs through the interview processes.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: Too simplistic
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
