good experience
on April 5, 2014

This year it seemed harder to get back into the step by step process than it was last year. Also it seemed like I couldn't get into the same process path to enter in more details if I passed on it the first time and went through to the end.
What's great about it: step by step
What's not so great: seemed more difficult to get back into step by step
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

SERIOUSLY LACKING FOR DAY TRADERS
on April 5, 2014

I like TT mostly and have used it for years but I wonder why there is no password protection. Quicken has double password protection and something as sensitive as a tax return should too. TT is limited in the amount of trades that can be imported into the program-should be unlimited or a number big enough to use-caused me lots of time and trouble. And because of the import limitations, I was planning on combining the short term trades into 1 total proceeds and 1 cost basis to get the short term loss or gain but the $ amount fields were too small to accept the numbers. These are issues that continue to plague day traders and should be fixed now-in fact IMHO they should not have existed to begin with.
What's great about it: IMPORT FEATURE FROM LAST YEAR AND MOSTLY INTUITIVE
What's not so great: LIMITED NUMBER OF TRADES CAN BE IMPORTED; NO ENCRYPTION
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Good product

At the point of filing my taxes the program kept stalling and stopping. It took me 45 minutes to get my taxes filed once I got to that stage. Very frustrating.
What's great about it: easy to use and explanations were very helpful
What's not so great: When I got to file tab, it started to stop and start, and I had to restart several times because it was so non responsiv

TurboTax help
on April 5, 2014
Posted by: Dewillz
Would like to see more in depth help from TT, not just community. How about providing some sections of the tax pubs that relate to a line item.
What's great about it: Some "quick" explanations
What's not so great: Usually only brings up community help
