could use a rewrite in true windows environment
What's great about it: Navigating from forms to interview OK
What's not so great: Still does not perform like a windows application - a lot of non-windows heritage is still in the clunky actions

Cap Gains Site under construction late in year

I had a lot of cap gains to report and as I tried to enter them into the cap gains site, it functioned very poorly. Turns out the site was still under construction until very late in the filing period. It would have better if users were advised that the site was under construction - perhaps not even made public until it was ready for use.
What's great about it: Good program - can not do taxes without
What's not so great: Should have warned that Cap gains under construction
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Upon entering the Real Estate taxes and interest amounts, the AMOUNT DUE/REFUND calculator does not change. Is it possible to make that happen?

Turbo tax a big help. But should make sure we don't get security error message about the site's certificate not being correct. Gives us some worry considering scammers out to confiscate return checks.
What's great about it: Mostly straight forward and simple

This is more of a personal reminder.
Since turbo tax is an online program after all, you have to understand the nature of your investments or other tax-related activities. Turbo's explanation to each item isn't as detailed as I would like.

1. When entering medical miles you don't specify if I'm supposed to put in the actual miles or the equivalent figure in dollars.
2. On one of the pensions, the address was not readily noticeable so I didn't get it put in and it was asked for as it was about to be transmitted in a way that I couldn't tell what it was going to ask for next, so I put the entire address in the first address slot, then it came up with the city and zip code. Not well planned. It should have been caught in all the checks and double checks that you go through long before it gets to the transmit part.

Easy!

Turbo Tax makes preparing tax docs easy. Each year I forget to collect info that should be reported (typically info that leads to a larger return). By having turbo tax ask me for info reported in previous years I file all needed info and receive the largest return possible.
What's great about it: Prior year info automatically transfers to the current year
What's not so great: none
Pros: I bought or sold investments
