An annoying glitch at the end of the process
on April 5, 2014
Posted by: Gerry8830
All went well until I tried to e-file. it repeatedly told me that my e-file didn't go through because I failed to apply updates (I did apply them, but still received the message). finally I quit turbotax and re-launched the software, which seemed to fix the problem. Your online instructions should have stated what to do!
What's great about it: fast, efficient
What's not so great: e-filing frustration

Semi-waste of time

At the end of the entire process - 1) You ask for our '6' digit security numbers' when the IRS has given us '5' digit security numbers; which you then refuse to accept. 2) You then send us to an IRS page for help...It dosen't exist.
What's great about it: Forms filled out
What's not so great: Can't correct to file electronically

Easy To Use

Have used Turbo Tax for many years and as always was easy to use. I was VERY impressed with amended section! Entered the info and it all filled in where necessary and was ready to mail! Years ago I did one by hand it it was tons of work and was unsure of accuracy - Turbo Tax did it all in 2-3 minutes tops!
What's great about it: Walks through all possible areas

the SW gets better every year without making major changes to the "feel" so it is great that it is familiar and easy to use
An improvement could be to determine amounts and options for special scenarios where now the operator is asked to find this information.
What's great about it: very easy to follow
What's not so great: section 179 could pull in information i think

It was easy enough

Where do I mail my Missouri forms. Don't say e-mail. If I wanted e-file I would had you do that. I don't like your e-file cost. It should be included when I buy the produce. I will try another type next year. Why are you flagging Nickname like it is something important. I had to make one up.
What's great about it: You ask the right Questions.
What's not so great: you don't allow we to ask question. You don't tell me where to mail
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Nice that the forms are updated automatically.
Difficulty with a KI form, which had a Bermuda address, which was not accepted by the state. TurboTax only gave me the choice of a US address.
What's great about it: Great downloading from financial firms. In general, easy to use, fast
What's not so great: Difficult to edit entry in forms. If I opted to leave items empty, for instance, the value of my IRA on Dec 31, I could

NO FREE state return
on April 5, 2014
Posted by: Flaw
I purchased the Deluxe version of Turbo Tax for Federal & State return that is supposed to include 1 FREE state return. When I filed the first return it asked if I wanted to use the free return then, I answered YES and was still charged. Thinking I made a mistake I filed the second return using the same software and the FREE option did not appear, so obviously I had NOT made a mistake and Intuit Turbo Tax has OVERCHARGED me.
What's not so great: I never received the 1 FREE State Return with the Deluxe Turbo Tax
