More problems than before

There were a number of problems with the state program. If not for the help function provided by other users, I would not have properly completed the state taxes or received my full deductions. The review function of the program was also deficient. I got into a do-loop and still am not sure if my taxes were fully reviewed; I had to abort out of the review and just file my return as-is.
What's great about it: Familiar format, help assistance is good
What's not so great: More program errors than previous years

Tax Filing with Confidence

I do returns for several family members, ranging from the most simple to one involving investments and sale of stocks and turbo tax helps me through each return . I am amazed by the ease of accessing information and the automatic completion of forms. The accuracy check at the end of the process eases my anxiety and I know documents have been prepared properly. When an error is made, the system identifies it and walks me through the correction. The electronic filings and promptness of refunds is an added benefit.
What's great about it: Simple to use, easy access to all forms and instructions
What's not so great: Ads for additional services

1) Cynthia's 1099 from the Town of Amherst was difficult to enter correctly -- it took 2 or 3 tries.
2) George's non-taxable pension from Massachusetts was difficult to enter correctly -- TurboTax did not accept 'NON-TAXABLE' in Box 12.
3) Format for entering/reviewing state tax info was different from and more cumbersome than federal tax info.

Turbo Tax

Excellent program. Very easy to use and the step by step guide through income and deductions makes it extremely easy to prepare and file tax returns. The automatic calculations for taxable amounts was very useful to me. I have been using this program for several years and it just keeps getting better.
What's great about it: Easy to use, helpful information, step by step guide with explanations and filing instructions

Really made it easy!

I have used Turbo Tax for a great many years and have found it to be more accurate than my own calculations. I definitely will use it in the future. Electronic filing is wonderful!!!
What's great about it: I liked being able to import some of the information.

Finished in a couple hours

I have used TurboTax for many years. Always happy with ease of entering information into return. Best of all (for me) is not having to re-enter all the basics like name and address and those all important investments - they can be imported from last year's return in just a few minutes.
What's great about it: Easy fill in the boxes
What's not so great: Having to go through many steps that do not pertain to your return (such as child care credit, loss due to storms, etc.)

Qualified Pension Income

I don't think I could get through tax season without Turbo Tax. "Its Deductible" is also a great help through out the year.
However Turbo Tax did not help me identify that a portion of "qualified pension income" can be excluded from North Carolina income.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax does a great job of sorting through IRS directions. Saves a great deal of time and confusion
What's not so great: The link to state taxes is not always clear
