Always loved TT but this year, our state does not have state taxes and in looking through the states that do, I accidentally clicked on a state and it wouldn't let me file until Iidentified the county for the city I live in. It had my state and another.

easiest and safest way to go on your own

Overall Turbo Tax programs make filing one's own tax returns so much easier and quicker than the old paper way where so much research was often required and you would find yourself more confused after reading the instructions than you were before. Most of those questions are taken care of automatically in Turbo Tax and there are no worries that you did something wrong. I have done my taxes this way for at least fifteen years and they get easier each year. I will never go back to the old way of filling out a packet of forms and mailing them in.
What's great about it: covers all possible angles so you don't miss important ones
What's not so great: retirement benefit questions somewhat confusing

easy for beginners!!!

this was my first time doing my taxes; and, although, I wound up owing (and thus, not getting much back); the process was relatively quick and painless. I took me just over an hour to my taxes.
What's great about it: the good news is, i understood the process
What's not so great: if there was a section which prompts for company-made contributions to 401k plans, that would be great.

a few bugs-
when you go back to a section to edit, you have to redo all the steps.
I had to update 3 times in 2 days before I could file.
Turbotax charged an underpayment penalty on VT state tax- but no penalty is due if the underpayment is <$500

The software is almost conversational.

Saved money doing it this way rather than paying a tax preparer service. I recommend Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: easy to follow, I could understand the questions

Amazing Detail Questions!!!

Sure beats doing all the calculations on the calculator!! Also, entering the information is easier than writing it all out with pencil or pen. Good program!
What's great about it: I liked how TurboTax calculated everything when I needed to change some figures.
What's not so great: I needed the Form 4835 and it was a little difficult to get. But, eventually I did get the form.
