then you find out there is a patch for turbo tax and then it loads
What's great about it: pretty easy to use

I have used turbo tax for a number of years now and it seems all the rough edges have been worked out such that this year was easiest yet. i went through faster and with fewer re-dos than ever before. i will most likely continue to utilize t-tax in the future. thanks for a great product.

Easy breezy!!

Turbo Tax is a very easy, helpful, step by step way to file your income taxes. The program walks you first through the bad news ( what you owe ) then through the good news ( what credits you have ). It shows you the running tally the whole way through. The program checks and double checks for any mistakes or items that may need to be amended. Quick and simple!
What's great about it: Pre-fills from last year, simple
What's not so great: I owed!

Straight Foreward and EASY!

I've been using TurboTax since 1998 and every year it gets easier to use. Simple to understand and written in layman's terms - you don't have to be a tax accountant to complete the interview. And it is a whole lot less expensive than going to the many tax service companies available.
What's great about it: Simple to use.
What's not so great: Can't think of any!

Problems with Quarterly taxes and refund

TurboTax interview method went smoothly but when It determined I was due for a refund it automatically checked Form 1040 to refund overpayment without asking me what I wanted to do. Since I pay quarterly taxes I wanted to apply the refund to my quarterly taxes for next year. I had to manually do this myself on Form 1040. There should be one more question in the interview for quarterly filing: Do you want the refund now or do you want to apply to next year's taxes? And a second question regarding how to handle the application to next years\'s taxes.
Then, if you checked next year, it should do this for you, check the appropriate box on 1040 and adjust your quarterly vouchers accordingly. This step I finally found after after an hour of searching is hidden under Quick Zoom on the form for filling out your next year's quarterly Payment Vouchers. It should all be done during the interview process when you have come to the end and, as said above, a question should be asked about how you want to handle the refund money. Let;s not have any hidden processes under Quick Zoom.
What's not so great: Not done well by Turbo tax. Awkward process required.

Purchased Turbo Tax Deluxe: Charged for E-Filing

I've been using Turbo Tax Deluxe for YEARS, however this was the first year they charged me for e-filing my state return. Very disappointing.
What's great about it: Step-by-step instructions great & easy
What's not so great: Deluxe should have included one state filing, didn't
