This is an easy to use, quick using guide or do it yourself, but guide reviews everything possible. I might have forgotten one or two items without that step. I was done in 2 days of part time entries, once I had everything lines up.
What's great about it: Easy to use your guide, easy to go back
What's not so great: Many steps did not affect us

had alot happen in my financial life this year, going through the credits step by step and being to click the link for more info was helpful. I like to know details and being able to easily access the tax publications was a big plus to me.
What's great about it: easy to use

Program is fine -- One account design problem

My only concern with Turbo Tax has to do with saving the return so that it can be recovered. Only the online version allows you to obtain a copy of a filed return via Turbo Tax. But you cannot use the online version if your financial institutions need to transfer more than 150 individual investment transactions. That means I had to use the boxed version of Turbo Tax. The problem with that one is that no copy of the return is saved by Turbo Tax, which in my case proved to be problematic. My computer hard disk was destroyed in the past year. I wound up ordering a copy of my return from the IRS (the one I had printed out last year has mysteriously disappeared). My suggestion is that the company lift the 150 transaction limit for investment transactions so that additional taxpayers can use the online version. This is my only criticism of the program.
What's great about it: It is a very easy program to complete as long as you have the information all together in advance.
What's not so great: The online and boxed versions of the program caused difficulty for me.

Good for basic return

I have used turbo tax for 15 years and have always been happy with how easy it was to navigate through the non payroll sections and see how other related schedules were affected. This year however was especially challenging due to automatic re-categorization of some 1099 Misc income. Given the time it took me to find what was causing the misclassification, I will likely use a professional tax accountant next year.
What's great about it: importing tax information from financial institutions; transferring data from year to year
What's not so great: difficult to follow the instructions when entering non payroll income

1. why can not investments be Alphabetized - it would save lots of time matching up
2. filing state return by mail -- Turbo Tax just ends !?!?? E-file Federal --than nothing ?!?!?!? had to go back & print state forms
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: could be easier

Problems with return for deceased
on April 2, 2014
Posted by: CFSB
In filling out a return for my deceased father, TurboTax asked me the correct questions - but made no reference to the fact it was a return for a deceased person in its instructions afterward. Also, on his Colorado return, the "Review" section cycled again and again through the same series of questions, without generating a review. No help from the help pages, either...
What's great about it: Calculated the taxes due/refund
What's not so great: Poor instructions for deceased return; "stuck" program
