e-file Federal and mail State

Need to be able to choose boxes to e-file Federal and mail State on the same page at same time.

Instructions for mailing to state of Nebraska need to state that 1099-R and 1099-Misc are only to be attached if they show a "State tax withheld" (per a phone call to Nebraska Department of Revenue)

What's great about it: Over all easy to use (I only go to view forms)
What's not so great: Need to make it easier to e-file Federal and mail state

Weak State Tax Questions

I have used TurboTax for at least five years and have downloaded my W-2 successfully. This year a new on line site was identified and required some code that was supposed to be on my W-2. I was able to log into that site directly, view and print my W-2 but it did not have the secret code to download into TurboTax making me enter all the data manually. Someone failed totally with this one.
Turbotax did not ask if I had made estimated state (NM) tax payments when doing that return. When I saw what I owed, I went back and tried to see where in the directed steps I should have entered this data. Couldn't find a place to enter this data. I went over to forms and entered the data manually.
The rest of the process was generally straight forward but I will consider another software package based on reviews not loyalty as I am going to an updated computer and will have to transfer files from the old hard drive anyway.
What's great about it: Downloaded my investment accounts reducing the effort required in preparation. Filled in last year's TurboTax return.
What's not so great: Stumbled on W-2 download and failed to ask for state estimated payments

I have liked Turbo Tax since the first time I used it. Does a good job taking people not versed in tax regs. through important & difficult subject with great easy.
What's great about it: followes you through to end
What's not so great: Font size in help side bars hard to read for older folks

Better than doing by hand

Years ago, I did my return by hand. This is a vast improvement. I no longer have to try to understand the convoluted tax code. Apparently it was assembled by a coalition of lawyers, politicians, and bureaucrats. There should be a simpler way to make the tax laws.
What's great about it: relatively fast and accurate; much less cumbersome than doing by hand
What's not so great: cost and a few things which could be misunderstood by a careless novice

Very pleased with overall experience. Have been Turbo Tax user for many years.
What's great about it: retrieving information from previous year makes process go much faster. Guided process straight forward.
What's not so great: Time for reboot when you revisit seems excessively long (could just be my antiquated pc!).

This is the First Time ever that I have to fill out Federal and State Income Tax Forms. TurboTax was Great for a 20 year old.
What's great about it: TurboTax is well written for a First Time User.
What's not so great: None
