2013 version Best year Ever

2011-12 both crashed. All bugs fixed this year!
What's great about it: The layout was simplified and faster to move through
What's not so great: none
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been using TurboTax for years and it does all the work for you, especially in filling the correct forms and doing the calculations. It allows you to focus on the main flow of creating the return without needing the arcane knowledge of navigating the forms and the interlocking calculations. For those of us who prefer to use the forms vs. the interview, it would be helpful if there was some help and guidance in selecting and filling the forms.
What's great about it: made all calculations, all forms accessible, checked return
What's not so great: forms help can be more descriptive, advice would be helpful

TurboTax Perfect This Year

TurboTax 2013 Deluxe this time provided not only what appears to be a bug free version even early on, it found things I never saw before to provide additional deductions for me in a rough year of expenses and lowered income.
I recall that in 2012, that version and perhaps even in 2011, I had to go back and start over to ensure that the end result was the same, and typically found a change, so opted to start a new return to see what was the right result. In this year's version, I didn't see this issue at all, despite trying multiple times. The software gave me more a feeling of confidence in what they provided indeed was worthy.

What's great about it: So easy and intuitive based on the questions asked and info provided.
What's not so great: None. Actually the best version I've seen in a long time!

I was able to do the return in a lot less time each year as the forms are improved each year.The questions are very helpful, reminded me a couple of time for information that I was about to miss.
When it was time to file, my bank data was already for me to just check to be sure it was correct - it was.

Watch out your CA state return

I e-filed CA state tax for the first time but received a letter from CA tax board 3 weeks later saying they can't honor direct deposit for refund due to "refund amount doesn't match validated amount". I don't think TT indicated anything like this when I filed the e-return. So I paid the fee but still have to wait for a check from mail later. I hope I will get my return by mail without further issues. I probably will not e-file State return in the future.

It was difficult this year to make corrections. You changed some of the formats and this made understanding our corrections very hard.
What's not so great: I have a simple tax statement and you made it very difficult.

Another Good Year

All-in-all it's the best way to do your own taxes! I'm in my 80s now and still find it as pleasurable as doing taxes can be. It's nice to send it off at the end and have that good feeling that it's all over for another year! Thank you for making the very complex mess that taxes are easy enough for the average person!
What's great about it: Quick answers to complex questions all printed out for you.
What's not so great: Some times it's not too easy to move up and down the page
