What's great about it: As always, simple instructions for simple returns.
What's not so great: SHould not keep pushing for "Premier" edition

Fix Itemized vs. Standard section.

TurboTax is great, year after year. But still, I wonder why it can't be smarter in the simple area of itemizing deductions vs. taking standard deductions. Like a pop-up that says "If you can't claim more than $XX, 000--your standard deduction--don't waste your time gathering stuff to support an itemized deduction."
What's great about it: Reliable.
What's not so great: Fix Itemized vs. Standard section.

Easy, efficient, and reliable

I've been using TurboTax for years and it has gotten easier to use. For a while, I started using TaxCut because it was cheaper, but I found it more difficult to use, and I even left things our accidentally. So I went back to TurboTax with its more intuitive interface and logical sequence of entries.
What's great about it: Step-by-step entry of information, with easy explanation pop-ups that keep you on the same page as you get clarification
What's not so great: Requires you to purchase TurboTax Plus to pay for CA e-filing with your tax refund.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

on older versoins years ago, it showed you the forms as you answered the questions so you could see where they went. The last few years, that feature has been deleated

Reliable

I have been using TurboTax for years and will keep on doing so. My returns are not overly complex, but it keeps me organized and it's easy to track returns from year to year. Also keeps my cpa costs to a minimum too!
What's great about it: easy follow up to last year
