Only con is for filing SS and Railroad Retirement

Have used Turbo tax for years and the guidance/instructions have always been easy to follow - but, this is the first year I had to do SS and Railroad retirement. I had a hard time with the instructions and how to access and complete. I did go on line and was able to find other reviews that gave me the guidance I needed.
What's great about it: Gets easier each year to use.
What's not so great: Instructions forSS and Railroad Retirement

Poor performance when trying to pay/submit

I bought the actual software from the store and installed on Windows7. Everything worked well until I tried to file/pay for my state refund. The software said it needed to save before filing, then I got a white screen and it just locked up.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: It locked up when I was trying to pay for my state refund

Peace of mind

as first time user just kept making sure all was done right - it seems to take longer than manual but actually was not since the calculations are made by the program, leading to no errors. Might make next year's filing easier and quicker.

My 10th year with TurboTax!

I've used TurboTax for years and never had an issue. You just need to have good records of your finances and understand basic questions... earnings, expenses, life changes. You would need to provide all of this to a tax expert. So it's just as easy to answer into TurboTax. And, the automation for downloading W2 and investments makes it even easier!
What's great about it: Really easy to do!
What's not so great: Ummmmmm....

Got it done

We receive a grantor tax information letter for our funeral preneed trust. It not set up like a 1099 or a K-1. My letters tells me what schedule, part and line to put the information on. Unfortunately Turbo Tax does not match this information for where to put the numbers. Maybe you could take a look at a letter and incorporate the letter terminology into the worksheets.
What's great about it: Fairly self explanatory
What's not so great: Not compatable with Grantor Tax Information Letters
