Overall great but was concerned that this year's copy did not include software update suggestions as it has in previous years. Also, kept getting reminders that state sales tax forms would be emailed 12/31/13 but it is March 31, 2014 so I filed return without knowing if I was getting the appropriate sales tax deduction for our income in Texas.

Lower learning curve than 2012

Program worked well. Any problems I encountered were caused by my actions.
What's great about it: Guided input seemed more AI

Finally got it to work

I will try again next year and hope I do better then. I am 77 and this was my first time, so it was a bit nerve-wracking trying to figure out some of the questions. I hope I ended up doing everything OK.
What's great about it: Was able to download my investments from my investment company
What's not so great: Didn't know I needed to sign in online as an Administrator, which caused my a lot of grief until I figured out how to do

Pretty Awesome

I am very frustrated that I was not able to get all of my 10% back from my new windows and insulation that I am supposed to get back!
I liked it overall, but am frustrated about the refund part that I didn't get that I should have.
What's great about it: I liked how it walked me through everything step by step.
What's not so great: Not sure that I am going to get all my money back from taxes. Not 10% back from new windows that I am supposed to.

Fastest and most trouble free way to go

It puts the tax codes and laws in simple, easy to understand questions and doesn't burden you with a bunch of unnecessary questions or requests for more information. I'd recommend it to anyone who is required to file any kind of taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to understand, simple to fill out
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Getting better, Check your forms

In spite of my following words I believe TT is a very good product.
I've used TT Deluxe for over 25 years now. They dropped a lot of good features and started a "TT for Dummies" approach a number of years ago. I guess I just never like the GUI approach to programming what is essentially a business product.
If you use the topics list to go to a specific point in your return and the want to move back to the page before that one, the back button sends you back where you were before selecting the topic. In other words you can't really page back through your return unless you are running through one of the interview sequences.
I do find that I have to check all of my forms very carefully as some of the questions can cause you to put things in the wrong place. There is also some disconnect in moving data to the state report from the Fed, mainly because there is certain income not taxed in my state and I have to type it in each time.
All in all though, I like it since it saves me the writing out the forms and doing all the calculations. I know from experience that I can do my taxes manually with the added effort, but I can always blame TT!
I do and have recommended TT to many people.
What's great about it: Does calculations and fills in forms. Like pdf save.
What's not so great: Some questions are confusing. State date transfer from Fed still a bit weak.
