Used product for years with confidence

have used Turbo tax for over 10 years; guides me through relatively complex tax scenarios simply and understandably.
keeps a running tab of the affects of input on my accrued tax liability. I like the way the user interface has changed very little through the years so each year is not like learning a new piece of software.

Easy and Thorough

Reduces the time and effort of filing taxes. Looks for all possible deductions to give the largest return.
What's great about it: Walks you through every item with questions and then fills out the apppropriate forms

Excellent, but...

Your software should show a summary explanation for Line 10 on the Fed form for clarification for the user. "None of your state/local refund is taxable if, in the year you paid the tax, you either (a) did not itemize deductions, or..."

Caution re. tax adjustments paid in previous year

I failed to update a correction I made to a previous state return in the TurboTax file and forgot it entirely. So the imported info to the following year was incorrect. The e-file of that year was rejected by the state. Only one e-file is permitted and so had to printout and file by mail.

I can recall what it was like to do the taxes manually, getting all the pamphlets amd instructions. . This is a much better experience.
What's great about it: It was easy to do...just answer questions.

Turbo Tax review

Been using TurboTax for many years and it helps a lot. My return is very time consuming with over 160 pages or forms to fill out. For the money and peace of mind I like it. If the government ever really did a paper work reduction act I might be able to do it again on my own. The last paper work reduction act in 1987? doubled my paper work. I have used H&R Block program once and it wasn't as good at TurboTax for me.
What's great about it: does all the calculations for you
What's not so great: none
