TurboTax Keeps Improving

TurboTax makes it hard to go wrong. You seldom need to go outside for other help, even with complicated returns; at times, you may want to use IRS.gov to find details in the instructions for a tax form. TurboTax has upgraded its process in terms of working with institutional investment and banking firms to better keep track of capital gains and losses, and it has also streamlined the entry of charitable donations.
What's great about it: Stays on top of tax rules, streamlines process year to year
What's not so great: Sometimes, choices aren't fully explained

Because of an error in entering information into my file, I became totally lost but once I got to talk to a person everything went smoothly!
What's great about it: The help I received when I got through to a person
What's not so great: Finding a telephone number to connect with a person

Great except for selection of state return

I am very happy with TurboTax 2013 Deluxe. However, it made an assumption when it should have asked.
I bought it with 1 free state.. We live in NH but one of us works in VT. NH has no income tax, VT does. We had to contact TurboTax customer service to give us the VT State tax form. Since TurboTax knew of the VT and NH incomes, it could have asked us which state return we wanted to use as our free one. The data was there and the program did not have the make the decision that our state of residence was obviously the free one. Just saying, this would be a useful program weak for NH people who work in ME, MA or VT (all states with income tax).
The issue was resolved with an online chat. Took 15 minutes and I was impressed with how smooth that went.
You will have us as a customer next year!!
What's great about it: Easy, flags are wonderful, good clues, great customer service
What's not so great: Did not allow me to select the "free" state

I have been a user for more than five years. Overall a good, useful product. Once complete but not filed it can be less than easy to get back to exact areas you want to review. I would add double check areas at critical junctions, such as having to double enter social security numbers and important W2 information to ensure proper entry.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to get through though I have tax prep experience
What's not so great: Sometimes getting back to complete interview areas is not exact
