TurboTax for max deduction

Find out if your individual state has online free filing. If not, then use TurboTax e-filing for no-hassle process.

This seemed easier than usual. Maybe I'm just getting good at it. Software worked perfectly, provided good details on questions.
What's great about it: Awesome software, as always. Walks you through everything.

Pretty good for a first time experience

1. Couldn't find a spot to put in my deduction for safety deposit box...it was in a category but couldn't find the spot to put the dollars in.
Couldn't figure out to explain that a certain income was actually just rolled over into another plan, not distributed.
What's great about it: Was easy to understand and am pretty sure we didn't miss anything important
What's not so great: Two things that made me unsure

I've use a tax software for several years and each year it gets easier. I really appreciate the "its deductible" portion.
What's great about it: Helps me walk through my return so i don't miss any credits i may be due.
What's not so great: I hate doing my taxes...

My 2013 Turbo Tax Review

I've used turbo tax for quite a few years now - I like the pre-population of the W2 and tax deductible information.
What's great about it: walks you through each step - pop up windows to help explain certain items - easy to exit and return at same spot.
What's not so great: Filing expense for state return is a bit high.

Over the years, TurboTax has gotten better and better. I still owed a bunch this year, due to some unexpected income opportunities that fell under self-employment, but I was able to cut about $500 off my bill by following a few suggested pathways.
What's great about it: Simple to see options that save me money
What's not so great: Nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

how many times to I have to log on only to find out there are new updates after I filed
why can't this system just bring forward my info from the prior year without having me go back and confirm the numbers
why can't the system figure out if I have a prior year carryforward without me having to input it
Overall it;s the same poor system ten years later
