Worth It

A friend recommended that I use Turbo Tax. I was afraid since I do not know anything about filing or preparing taxes. This is the second year I use Turbo Tax. It is very user friendly and walks you through everything. Highly recommended!

LA State Taxes

I'm using TurboTax to complete my retired parents taxes. I have no issue with the federal filing. When I file their state taxes, it goes over the amount they pay. Because of their tax credits, TurboTax will calculate they may be entitled to more money. However, they can't collect it. If they pay $100 in state taxes, they can only received $100 back in state taxes. TurboTax will say that they should receive $130, which creates problems.
What's great about it: Easy to file

Love Turbo tax. Walks you through step by step. Feel very comfortable with doing my own taxes. Have used several times and will continue to.

I used to do this the hard way by myself paper and pencil.... this is my third year using Turbo Tax and I am so much happier.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 13 years and have never had a problem with it. Turbo Tax has been matched against professional tax preparers and has arrived at the same or better tax results. I feel it is a very reliable tax program and I do recommend it.

Be careful!

I downloaded an extra state to do my son's taxes, who is a resident of my state but goes to school in another. WAY to expensive, especially after paying handsomely for the Turbotax software to begin with. So think twice before doing this -- you will pay almost as much for the extra state as you did for the software itself!
What's great about it: It got the job done.
What's not so great: Too expensive!

You have left me disappointed concerning the results outlined above. I have NEVER had problems before when filing by mail and reserve my opinion to ever use it again IF I can manage to get it to print my return. Whoever designed the print and file interface makes it a very questionable product.
What's great about it: Was somewhat les convenient than last 10 versions
What's not so great: Clumsy exit for filing by mail and printing required forms
