Problems With Sales of MLP's

I have used Turbo Tax for at least 15 years and until I had to recognize the profit or loss from the sale of an MLP I always found it very easy to use. Now that I have to file with sales of MLP's I find that TT has no easy way to handle them and unless someone in the forum had not prepared a detailed set of instructions that I found I would not have been able to figure out how to properly handle them. What is worse is that this problem has existed for more than one year and TT has not fixed the issue. This in inexcusable in my opinion. I will potentially be looking for another tax preparation software next year.
What's great about it: Generally easy to use.
What's not so great: Cannot handle sale of MLP's without a difficult work around.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Great live help when needed!

I have used TurboTax for the last three years. This year I had a question that could not be answered by the community post. I posted a question for a tax professional to respond and received a call within 2 minutes. I was not hurried through my question. I was respected, helped, and carefully guided through all I needed in order to ensure that I had all of my information correct. Thank you!
What's great about it: Could not be easier to use.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Disappointed

Was pleased with the overall entering and walking me through the forms and putting data where it needed to be.
I was very disappointed in the end when it advised me to file my state I had to pay an additional fee. I thought that when I bought the "federal and state" edition the added cost included the filing fees.
Very disappointed
What's great about it: walked me right through the proper filing of forms
What's not so great: filing fees
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax allowed me to do my parents' taxes

My father is in poor health and asked for help with his taxes. He had all the paperwork he needed, and a print-out of his taxes from last year, prepared with TurboTax.
My father's finances are way more complicated than mine. I couldn't have done it without TurboTax.
However, TurboTax kept crashing on his old MacBook Pro when I tried to look at the forms. So I tried to install TurboTax on my Mom's new laptop with Windows 8. It wouldn't work until I found an internet post saying to disable Microsoft .NET 3.5. Then it installed and worked great.

Surprised

I have been doing my own taxes for a few years, but I doubt I will anymore. Turbo Tax was quick, easy, painless, and I like that it checked the work and that I can print its work sheets at the end for my records. I was very surprised at how easy it was, because I am not good with computers and I had been intimidated until a friend of mine showed me how easy it can be. I will be using Turbo Tax in the future.
What's great about it: Quick, easy, detailed, walked through everything, complete

This was easy to understand and complete. It was inexpensive also, because I have paid a lot of money in previous years to do my taxes. I will use Turbo Tax from now on.
What's great about it: Easy to understand
What's not so great: Time consuming, but it's the same with all taxes

saved me fees

During the review I had two errors, 1 on federal and 1 on state. It took a while to figure out I should go to the forms tab to address each error. Better instructions would have helped.
During validation E-filing I was instructed to download updates which I did. After three attempts with the same validation error I assumed the problem was more than an update. I did not want to mail my returns which was the instructions if the problem was not resolved with the update. So I saved my file and reloaded the software. Then I ran the update and it worked (all is good I hope).

Easy as pie

TurboTax is easy to use and it guides you through the whole process of filing taxes. I could get my taxes filed for me for free but TurboTax is so easy I would rather do it myself. I have friends who use other software but I see no reason to try another product when I as so happy with TurboTax.
