As many would, I e-File my federal return and print-File my state return. Instructions appear to push towards e-filing both returns. Wading through the instructions for printing the state tax return it appears that the return is formulated into a PDF file but nowhere is there a mention that the PDF file needs to be printed for transmittal. I was not able to directly print the pages of my state tax return. It was difficult to work through this last year but is even more confusing this year. On that issue I would give you 1 Star or 1/2.
What's great about it: Preparing tax return gets easier
What's not so great: Filing instructions are confusing and hard to follow

I had used Turbo Tax years ago, but then had a small business and went back to my CPA. That proved too expensive, my whole return was his fee. This year I decided to do it myself. Enjoyed it.
What's great about it: easy, even I could do it.
What's not so great: "Special Depriciation Allowance" not done, it was found in check-up.

Had to manually go in and create a 1040 Schedule A to supplement the state 140 A. The state requires you to submit a federal 1040 Schedule A, yet Turbo Tax did not create because We did not itemize on the federal. Why doesn't Turbo Tax know to do this?
I also found Turbo Tax requiring me to make other manual adjustments. I have been using this software for quite a few years. 2013 was a disappointment!!
What's not so great: Doesn't appear to include all of the forms required for mailing

Would be nicer if you could buy once and get upgrades. Our U.S. tax system is really antiquated and asinine.
What's great about it: Easy to use, fairly fast
What's not so great: Pricey

Excellent Tax Software Program for Non-Accountants
on March 29, 2014

Overall, it's a breeze to complete and e-file tax returns. No need to consult a tax expert. Very satisfied with using the TurboTax software program over the 5 years or so - no doubt, one of the best!. We have received our refunds as scheduled. Most of all, we feel comfortable navigating through all steps to the end. We highly recommend the use of this tax software program to taxpayers who are non-accountants.
What's great about it: Very easy to follow w/ complete explanations & examples.
What's not so great: Too many personal details asked.
