Thanks for having phone support!

Everything went fine until the validation process which got rejected because it said it TurboTax need updating. I updated several times and it still wouldn't validate. When I called the support, the rep suggested I restart my computer. I did this and it worked. I was able to transmit my tax return electronically.
So, THANKS FOR PHONE SUPPORT!!! Otherwise I would've been forced to mail a print copy in.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Won't validate the return until I restarted my computer

Gets more expensive and obtuse every year

Been using TurboTax for many years. I like the format of walking through the items. But it seems to me that it gets more complicated and less clear in its explanations as things go along. Also, changed residency from one state to another and insisted on still completing the previous state forms. Did not file but error check was annoying in insisting that I had to add entries for the previous (unused state). Also, adding additional states (my daughter had two that were not the state I was filing in) is ungodly expensive. Each is the cost of the original TT-Deluxe which include Fed and one state...what gives? Also, additional e-filing fees for additional states went up $5 (25% in the past year). Seriously considering going back to paper.
What's great about it: connects fed and state
What's not so great: lots of questions, explanations often hard to follow or unclear, additional states as expensive as the base program
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I save my information every time I sign off besides saving it in between sections, yet when I go back and review it's missing. Every year this happens and I don't know why. I've been using Turbo Tax since it came out, and will continue to use it, however I wish I knew why it loses info I have previously entered. Does anyone else have this problem??
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: keeps losing information I previously entered and have to reenter again

Still owed more taxes

I have used TurboTax for years and like it more every year. It is so easy to use and is very complete in covering all tax items. The videos are great if you're not sure about a specific item. Even if we had to pay more tax, I am very confident that TurboTax explored every option to reduce the tax we owed.
What's great about it: User friendly, thorough in covering all items and great explanations.
What's not so great: None

The foreign tax credit area did not work for me. I may have missed something but here is my experience:
TT first asks for a listing of all countries where tax was paid. After listing them, TT did not retain them. Then it asks for the first country and then for an entry of the INCOME. It then asks for another country and that income. I never did see a place to enter the TAX. Then it seems to lose all entries. Switching to step-by-step after making several more country and income entries, I find an entry for the tax as $7 which does not relate to any of my entries.
What's great about it: Mostly excellent
What's not so great: Foreign tax credit
Pros: I bought or sold investments
