Best with Simple Stuff

My K-1s are for Gas & Oil Limited Partnerships. TurboTax seems convinced that they are for Rental Properties and keeps demanding that I enter number of days rented, etc. TurboTax PhoneHelp could not find a way around this.
Form 8949, reporting Capital Gains transactions, provides columns (f) and (g) for adjustments to cost basis, but you must use the OVERRIDE to enter data in these columns and TT error check will not permit that. So you have no place to report Return of Capital adjustments.
What's great about it: Importing, entering & calculating
What's not so great: Mickey-Mouse stuff with K-1s, 8949s

For the last two years when I get to the part on Business Income, the interview ask for all the income issues, but does not walk you through the expenses part of the form.
What's great about it: It migrates most info from the past year
What's not so great: The interview does not always walk you through Schedule C

Your CPA Roxanne was extremely helpful to me. She was thorough and patient and has a wonderful telephone presence. I don't know her last name, but we communicated on Sat. March 29. Also she has a great sense of humor which is wonderful when you're working on taxes.
What's not so great: Very difficult and confusing to use the print preview.

went thru entire process of updates, reviews, etc and everything was ok. you charged my credit card for e-filing and then it would not pass verification due to update needed. it was just updated. tried update a few more times and same failed verification message came up. The entire process was ok until this, which ends very negatively for me. I will be looking for better options next year.
What's not so great: transmitting was a nightmare

I have used Turbo Tax for a number of years now. It is a very complete program, covering numerous tax scenarios. I like the way it walks me through all of the possible deductions and credits we may qualify for. Whether it's for rental property, a home based business, college education expenses or homeowner's deductions, I am confident filing my return knowing how thorough it is with all of the details. Also, the fact that it imports the data from last year's return is a huge time saver. I would definitely use Turbo Tax again next year, and recommend it to anyone attempting to file their own taxes.
What's great about it: Covered all areas of deductions and credits we needed.
