2013 turbo tax filed

I had income form the sale of timber for which I received a 1099-s. It wasn't clear where to enter the information. I ended up putting it under other income.
The rest of turbo tax is pretty easy to use. I don't like having to scroll down every time a new item is added.

Fantastic Program

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and given my personal tax situation, I see no need to go to a professional who will charge me 3 times the cost of TT. I am not an accountant. For that matter, I'm not even good with figures, but TT makes it easy for me to simply transfer my information onto the computer and let the calculator in the program take over and do the rest.
What's great about it: Easy to use and don't have to smell the breath of a tired tax accountant!
What's not so great: Website interfacing leaves a bit to be desired
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 Turbo Tax Returns

I use Turbo Tax every year. I am confident that it covers all of the bases and enables me to prepare complete Federal and State returns. However, when Federal taxes are owed, it appears that the option to pay by mailing a check only applies to filing by mail, not eFile. This should be made clear the first time the pay-by-check option is given. The efile steps gave only the options to use a credit card for a fee or to use a bank account debit.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax provides a complete check of info needed for filing
What's not so great: Payment options confusing

I always feel like I might be missing the biggest return possible. Are there questions that aren't being asked, what am I missing? I would be helpful to include tips to reduce taxes for the upcoming year. Are there receipts that I should save to help me track possible deductions?
What's great about it: Still very simple and informative
What's not so great: Would like it to give "loophole" tips

Overall good but the over 62 medical form was poorly explained. It took less time than when I worked with a professional.
What's great about it: Just answer the Questions

Used it for years and find it easy to use and thorough. Would recommend it to anyone as a safe, complete tool.
What's great about it: Easy to use, a great tool in helping me file my taxes. I would think everyone would want to use it. It's that good.

TurboTax CD/Download (MAC)

I have used TurboTax for years, but this year we used our MAC instead of our aging microsoft computer. All was grrreat, until it was time to e-file. It told me I needed to download an update. I had downloaded updates when I first entered the CD on my hard drive. It told me to go to the TurboTax menu, and then to "Check updates", but it didn't tell me how to get there. I tried various things to get there, but to no avail. So then I called for help, and was rescued by "Tamara" in your Midwest region. Please instruct her boss to give her a raise...she was extremely helpful with a terrific customer service attitude. Thanks, Tamara. TURBOTAX, you need to further guide your MAC customers in saving their return, and then hitting on the Apple Icon in the upper left corner, to be followed by choosing "Force Quit." Then within Force Quit, choose the Turbo Tax year you are working on. Then, go back to your return and try the e-file transaction again. It may take 2 or 3 attempts, but it will work. Of course, you can save time by calling for help sooner...but, if you're like me, you like to try first. TURBOTAX, please work on fixing this hiccup, so others don't face this issue, and we customers then then rate you with 5 stars instead of 4.
What's great about it: Ease of use in doing federal and state tax returns
What's not so great: Pretty big hiccup in e-filing the tax form

For the most part, made filing my taxes fairly easy.
What's great about it: Takes you easily step by step through whole process
What's not so great: Was confusing when I went back to review. Asked me the same questions as if I had not done that section before.
