Easy to follow

Tried 3 times to (had difficulty) load program, there were no immediate help. The Q&A pages don't give specific ways to solve the problem(s)

ES Vouchers need to be easier to modify.
What's great about it: Finished quicker. Downloading last years information is super helpful. E-file is a snap.
What's not so great: Sales tax entry not very clear. Help menu is not very helpful on sales of real estate issues. ES vouchers not good.

Turbo Tax is very easy to follow. You get the benefits of many years of expertise. You reap the benefits of many others in getting the most bang for your bucks.

Having used TurboTax for years and the software just keeps getting easier to use. I did our return in one day. Suweet!
What's great about it: Walks you through, most steps easy to follow
What's not so great: Wording in K-1 section a little confusing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Make filing a painless as possible

TTax makes filing understandable. It categorizes income and deduction in such a way as to make sense of the whole process. Capital Gains in Schedule D is still a big black box to me though. I import Stock gains/loses electronically. There is no way to individually check the accuracy. This is due to govt requirements rather than TTax short fall.
What's great about it: Makes filing rules understandable.
What's not so great: Updates are too frequent. I hate figuring the Schedule D

Turbotax again

It was a tougher year than usual because I was out of work due to a job change and my wife missed work for health reasons. We were both on unemployment although for different reasons. Turbotax took me right through without a hitch. Paid taxes where I needed to, didn't where I didn't. Will be back next year. Undoubtedly to pay more taxes.
What's great about it: straight forward for those of us who do not have complicated taxes
What's not so great: I didn't find any

2013 Taxes

Turbo tax is an awesome and effective way for people to file their taxes. This year I used a MAC for the first time and not being a tech savvy person I did not realize that I should drag the icon onto my desk top instead of using the app store. I realized there was a problem after purchasing turbo tax for top dollar and not being able to re-use the program to do my son’s taxes (which is usually no problem). I called the helpline and Austin directed me step-by-step and explained what I had done in simple easy to follow instructions (thanks Austin). Perhaps providing instructions on the read-only disk would be helpful for people like me.....
What's great about it: I have used Turbo Tax for years.....and have loved the ease and affordability
What's not so great: This year I used a mac for the first time and had lots of trouble realizing that I should NOT download from app stor
