I had used TurboTax for many years and switched the last two years to a different service. I am pleased to be back with TurboTax where I will stay for the foreseeable future
What's great about it: Relatively easy to use. Confident of calculations.
What's not so great: Would like to undo the transmit function if mind changed "immediately."

Tax Preparation Process

I've been using Turbo Tax for about 12 years now and it has never failed to impress me year after year with its very easy, well organized and accurate system of processing and e-filing my returns. It has always come through even with the very complicated tax situations I had in the past. I have not kept up with the changes on tax laws and had always depended on Turbo Tax, and feel very confident that it will handle ably and competently my family's tax returns. I have also once used the Tax Defender and true to its guarantee, it resolved the case satisfactorily without any involvement on my part during the course of IRS investigation.
What's great about it: Very easy and convenient, free federal efiling is quite a bonus.

Almost There

Every time I want to access my return a screen comes up that says "Keep Up To Date With Tax Law". All I want to do is access my return. EVERY time I have to take two extra steps; view the screen and select no thanks.
You are wasting our time with this nonsense. Whoever set this up does not understand the needs of the customer. Get rid of this screen and next time I will consider giving you a "5".

I am a CPA. I find Turbo tax a great software that makes the return easy, accurate and something anyone could do.

Quick but thorough

The software is intuitive and instructions are very clear. Really do like the importing of last year's data as it saves time. HIstorical comparisons with other years was useful to me as an initial indicator of any gross errors or omissions that I may have made.
What's great about it: logical process for data entry
What's not so great: can't think of any
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Continuity

Never heard of a 1099-G, but TurboTax said I needed to input it. I didn't think the info provided by TT was clear enough. Also, kids inherited, the AMT tax kicked in, and TT's exlanations were still not clear enough. Some" IF -THEN" scenarios or flowcharts may have helped.
What's great about it: Previous year return transfer, did identify 1099-G info
What's not so great: Explanations
