Taxes are a necassary evil!

When completing the sale of some stocks, the 1099B from the company did not match forms. My wife and I retired last year, there were no questions regarding work status changes.
What's great about it: No math
What's not so great: sold stock and charity address info - WHY?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

When I tried to send my tax information I was caught up in a loop going back and forth asking to name a country for Form 8891. I am now lost on if I been charge all your fees for efiling & refund processing. I don't find where to get this info
What's not so great: Could not find a way to get rid of Form8891 that I didn't need

Any problems came about by trying to insert what the section did not require in a previous version,e.g We spent a lot of time locating the addresses of the recipients of our charity. Had we known that we would have to type the same address several times, next year we will try to compile a charity by address as well as amount to avoid repetition. At the start of deductions you might notify the taxpayer of the need for the address for any charitable contribution. ..Other than slogging our way through that maze, TurboTax is a life saver, Watch state abbreviations, too. IL bounced four time in the error check. We use just IL-erroneously, I guess.

Software Limits Usefulness

After running into a software limitation on inputting data, I called and was told that I needed to upgrade to the Pro Series. I bought the Pro Series but then found out that it would not work on a MAC, but only worked with a PC running Microsoft.(I did get a refund). I eventually got around the software limitation by creating a phony W-2 form with the additional data so the calculations were correct. I filed by mail so as not to efile a phony W-2
What's great about it: Intuitive
What's not so great: Software limits the input data

First refund in years!

I have been using TurboTax for many years now and have only had great results using the product. I highly recommend it to everyone I know. Don't waste your time with H&R Block or some other tax "prepper". Do it yourself with the help of TurboTax.
What's great about it: Love how it takes you step by step through Federal and State tax form forest.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
