Using TurboTax for Many Years
on March 27, 2014

I have always done my own taxes, since my first filing in 1970. For many years, I've used TurboTax and obviously, it was so easy being walked through the process. I was also confident the filings were correct.
Not once during my years using TurboTax have I been audited or even contacted by the IRS. Several times, the income for my wife and myself fluctuated year to year. The change could have been very significant and would normally be questioned by the IRS. Using TurboTax, these fluctuations were NEVER QUESTIONED! Thanks TurboTax!
I've been offered the opportunity to have "professional" tax preparation several times but while it would have saved an hour or so, I decided to continue using TurboTax even when the offers were free. Thanks but no thanks.
What's great about it: The ease of being walked through my taxes

Look, Turbo Tax takes so much pain out of taxes that it is worth the cost every year. The only problem I have is that taxes are so bleeding confusing and take SO LONG to do, it is a major brain drain. Can't this be automated IRS?
What's great about it: Imports data from everywhere
What's not so great: It's still doing taxes

Overall, this years product wasn't your best.
The product purchased had a built in error that required tech support to assist me in even loading it on my computer.
When doing final review of forms, several strange ones were included (ES stuff, I think). The process to print some or all forms is confusing, and having several times to say no to additional purchases from your company isn't the best.
What's great about it: continuity with previous use of your software
What's not so great: product sold had fault and strange listings of forms

Minor revisions needed for Turbo Tax

There has be be a better way to print the itemized list of of non-cash items listed for charity. Every year I spend an hour trying to find out how to do it and every year I think it changes. Now the only way I could find was to go to printer center; forms; mark forms to review or keep for records; mark Tax return & all calculation worksheets, Then hit preview print copy and a new screen comes up. From there you have to scroll all the way down on the left side of page till you find 'additional information'. when you hit that presto.....there they are. The itemized list of contributions but not exactly correct but better than trying to print screen when you enter the information. Certainly needs a technician attention!!!
What's great about it: Good guidenance,.works well, walks you through everything.
What's not so great: Printing non-cash contributions worksheets with individual items listed.
