assistance filing state tax---with Intuit

After trying to file my state taxes, there was a glitch somewhere that wouldn't let me file. I called Intuit and got the friendlist most helpful person ( I wish I'd remembered her name). She guided me through many steps and stayed on the line with me until the taxes went through. Absolutely excellent service !
What's great about it: QUICK to answer, knowledgable
What's not so great: I shouldn't have had to have assistance, there was a glitch in filing state tax

I would recommend TurboTax to everyone.
What's great about it: quick
What's not so great: The cost of filing the state return should be included in the cost of of Turbotax. This would be one less step to file.

Finally Covers Military State Exemptions Clearly!

- Very pleased that product finally covered my state income exemption as active duty military. It was a great improvement.
- We did a refinance of a refinance at a 2 year interval during this tax year. While Turbotax automatically applied the prorated remaining funding fees to the closed out mortgage, there was no discernible means to review those calculations - would be helpful.

What's great about it: Coverage of Military State Tax filing with insight and clarity

Taxes for Dummies

I have used TurboTax for many years. It continues to improve every year. Plenty of help if you need it. If you don't know anything about taxes, you can use it easily on a walk thru of each area.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: Nothing negative; met my needs

Love the guide that takes you through every possible income catagory, (just in case I forgot something). The best is the guide through the deductions. Great job to make sure we took advantange of all the possible deductions we were entitled to! Thanks for assisting with providing the values of charitable items for donations. Thank you for such peace of mind. Turbo Tax is awesome. I call you the Turbo Tax Geni. Taxes made easy and accurate. How great is that?!

I'm a volunteer tax preparer with a VITA/TCE program and the software we use for that is way more difficult to use than TurboTax. TT's step by step approach puts everything in the proper place and asks questions about things you probably wouldn't think of yourself. And with the tax code of today it would be difficult, if not impossible, to do a return with pencil and paper.
On the con side: it's pricy, especially the 25% increase in the state filing fee. But still, it's well below what you'd pay for a professionally prepared return. Also it seemed to me that TT asked some questions it should have already known. Perhaps the info carry-forward from last years return isn't as robust as it used to be.
But all in all, I'll be waiting in line to buy it again next year.
What's great about it: Easy, thorough, accurate.
What's not so great: Minor stuff.

I have used Turbo Tax for many years and it works very well.
I particularly like the ability for purchase audit protection for a low fee so I don't ever have to worry about an IRS audit.
What's great about it: easy to install, detailed walk thru of all areas
What's not so great: None
