TurboTax Critique

This program should have provided the Adobe Reader needed to print pdf. I did not have it available and had to spend much time calling someone to assist in downloading the correct program. There were many Adobe sources.
I am considering getting a different tax prep program next year.
What's great about it: It figures out the technical details of what goes where.
What's not so great: Not as easy as in years; had to hunt where to place deductions; could not print pdf; took too much time.

Hesitant about using this self tax filing stuff for fear of being audited if i missed anything. But your product guarantee and a friend's strong belief in your product made me go for it. I couldn't believe how user friendly it is. I'll definitely use your product from now on.

Great Program/Software

Overall, I really like TurboTax. I have used it several years and find it improves yearly. There are a few forms and instructions that i find cumbersome, as the K-1 when the form I receive from the company does not easily coincide with TurboTax format and instruciton; then I have to read way more from the K-1 instructions and try to interpolate this. But overall it is a terrific tool.
What's great about it: Easy to follow; overall thorough
What's not so great: K-1 forms somewhat difficult to follow from instructions--could improve
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

2013 - first time hung up by NJ state return error

NJ state program kept demanding K1 and S corp information - neither of which I had this yr. Did have K1's in prior years (no S corp ever) - Related worksheets did not display ?? - When I launched "print NJ return" - message " errors - want to continue?" noooo - so I went back to step by step - filled in all zeros re: k1 and s corp questions - review indicated errors - then finally K1 and s corp worksheets displayed - and I was able to delete those forms - and no further errors displayed.
also - I wanted to file Fed electronic and print/mail NJ - maybe it was me - but It seemed like TT was constantly combining Fed/NJ to file both electronically - did not see a simple check box for FED - ELEC plus NJ - PRINT.
overall - since the 1980's TT has been excellent for me - one of the simplest interfaces ever...thanks
What's great about it: as usual - wicked simple screens and related help screens
What's not so great: Program seemed to hang on to info from prior yrs - created a loop

I've used this software for years, and it gets better very year. I like the step-by-step guide and the repeated Q & A to make sure you don't miss anything. Excellent software!!!

Easiest tax preparation

I had a problem with continuing my tax preparation as the instructions said I had to get "Administrator approval". By calling your help #1800-446-8848 the problem was resolved by re-downloading the information from your website. Your representative was very helpful and patient and the overall experiences was stress free.
What's great about it: Help line
What's not so great: When purchasing Audit Defense did not allow for change of credit card info
