A little less easy

Long & short term investments are obvious by dates. Why does one need to choose the proper category ? Turbo Tax should do this to avoid errors. Why do dates of "sold" for "monthly distributions" need to be individually entered? Distributions from 8 funds over 12 months is 96 entries !! Why should this be necessary when the "proceeds " and "cost basis" amounts are entered ? These amounts are what is used in tax calculation.
What's great about it: A good way to do your taxes in an organized manner for reference
What's not so great: Schedule D & 8949 NOT intuitive
Pros: I bought or sold investments

As per usual, fairly painless tax season

I've used Turbo Tax since sometime in the mid 90s. I find the newest version a pretty good update. I do taxes for my Mother in Law and for us, I can clearly walk her through the system so she understands what is going where and why.
Captures the unusual expenses and tax breaks for my wife who is a member of the clergy.
Will use this again
What's great about it: Captures both usual and unusual events
What's not so great: Not many
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

True Feelings!

I've used TT for years and I trust it's accuracy completely. It does annoy you by taking so long to open it - every time you open it. But I feel so much more relaxed and at ease when using TT than I did when I did it manually with no extra outside help. Inner peace is beautiful thing!
What's great about it: Very accurate, thorough, and reliable
What's not so great: Looooong time to open-everytime! Always a 3 minute update and then another long reboot!!!!

The state is not free if I have to pay. Should stop giving misleading information in the sale of the product.
What's great about it: Asked appropriate questions
What's not so great: charged for state

I've used TurboTax for several years and love the ease of transferring data from one year to the next. We can also compare our income and deductions.
What's great about it: Loved the walk through of all the possible deductions
What's not so great: Had to wait on this year's Congress to approve forms

A Satisfied Long-time User

Really appreciate being able to download 1099s from my financial institutions.
I do volunteer work preparing tax returns. In that role I must use different tax prep software. TurboTax is far superior to that product. I wish the IRS would ask you to provide the software for this volunteer activity.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
