Mostly Excellent

All instructions and options relate to rental properties. For example, in reference to my royalty income, I had to report where the property is located. My particular royalty came from gas and oil production at different locations. In my view the two (rental properties and royalties) should be separated.
What's great about it: Clear, understandable instructions
What's not so great: Royalty income reporting
Pros: I bought or sold investments

problems with turbo tax

after up date we reran the program and came up with the same diagnostics page as before. kind of left us hanging, do i continue or what first time i felt that either we bought the progam to early,(FEB 14) or it was a bad disc.. first tme problem.
What's great about it: figured tax correctly
What's not so great: had a page of disgnosics, cam up prior to printing.

Another set of taxes done with very little pain.
What's great about it: Can carry forward previous years info to save time. prompts for items I might have missed.
What's not so great: Have to load previous return info at the beginning.

I use Turbo Tax every year and always love the ease of use and the feeling that I am covering everything. A few years ago I went to a tax service to convince myself that I was not missing out on any further tax deductions (per the commercials on tv). Turns out they use a tax software very similar to Turbo Tax and were not as knowledgeable as what I can find via the Turbo Tax experts or online. Ever since, I feel even more secure that I am getting my maximum refund via Turbo Tax. My one request would be for Turbo Tax to allow for step by step via forms such as the 982 I needed to fill out this year. I have to research online how to do this via your software, but in the end it turned out I just needed to manually update the form. Love the product and will continue to use every year going forward!
What's great about it: Easy of use, step by step
What's not so great: did not include step by step for form 982 so needed to research how to fill out myself

Good, except for the e-file click!!

Everything went well in entering info. Great!
I'm on a Mac and couldn't actually file (!) because the Validation step could not complete. I cycled through several times, digging into Turbo Tax chat for a l-o-n-g time with suggestions about uninstalling, reinstalling, renaming files etc. that was much to onerous for me. Finally a found a response from a SuperUser that was simple and successful: Empty Trash, restart your Mac, open TT from Apps folder, update software if needed and file. Voila! It worked. This shouldn't be so HARD!

Took almost as much time to figure out how to actually e-file as it did to figure out the taxes. Please address for next year.

Disappointed!!

I find it confusing, which was not the case at all. That is why I continued to use it for many, many years. Right now, I am having difficulty printing my forms. It used to be you just hit "print" and it printed. Now, it is going to some crazy site. Please go back to the user friendly TurboTax!!!
What's not so great: I'm not sure I will use TurboTax again after using for many years.

there should be an option not to print the turbo tax cover notes. Reason, when using two sided printing, these will also automatically print as part of the official copy for filing.
