My 2013 TurboTax Experience

I was more concerned about doing my taxes this year. I retired in mid-2013, but continued to consult with my former company. This created what seemed to me to be a complex income situation. I put off working on my returns even more this year than usual, because I was sure it was going to get very complicated. I couldn't have more incorrect. TurboTax walked me through every detail with ease. I know I have to file returns every year, but I really don't want to be a tax expert. Thankfully, TurboTax has plenty of talent in their organization who do enjoy tax work and make my work easy.
What's great about it: It couldn't beeasier to use, even in an unusal tax year. TurboTax does all the math and doesn't make mistakes.
What's not so great: It is difficult to say, because there wasn't anything that I truely detested. In the end it is still filing your taxes.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I wanted to go through the info on sales tax for out of state purchases but could not find it again.
What's great about it: Turbotax does not let me miss anything, or let me make a mistake inadvertently. It is thorough, anticipates and explains
What's not so great: Can not think of any.

Program leaves me totally unaware of what the forms look like unless one goes to forms one by one, One can just stay ignorant.
What's great about it: questions to jog ones memory over all are good.
What's not so great: had to tell program the IRA RMD had some that tax had already paid although it imported info from last yr.

Turbo Tax- It's THE Best Way To File!!!

Been using Turbo Tax for year 8 years now. Wouldn't think of using anything else. It's easy to use-- walks me step-by-step through every question, checking for errors as I go. And when it's time to send the file, I feel confident that I've done them correctly and completely.
What's great about it: Clear, Methodical, Comprehensive, Easy to Understand

I have used Turbo-Tax since before Intuit got it. I can not think of any better way to do my taxes.
What's great about it: Allows listing of deductions, i.e. medical costs

Had to switch log on status back and forth from user to administrator in order to download updates and state - it did not prompt me to provide administrator password. Otherwise, great product that facilitates return preparation and saves countless hours

TurboTax easily imported my personal information from the other product I used last year. Overall, the interview was easy to understand and follow. It was logically organized. I like that it covered unusual situations but identified them as unusual so I didn't have to think too long about the ones that didn't apply to me. Everything flowed so easily that, when I got to the end, I said "That can't be it". So I went back and checked everything, and it was all there - done!
I would like to see two improvements. (1) When loading the data from the prior year's return from a DIFFERENT product, load the return data too, not just the personal information. This would make the year-over-year comparison much more useful, and would save my having to manually look up last year's data - like carryover capital loss, carryover charitable contributions, and my AGI to use on the eFile. (2) When I select to eFile Federal only, after completing the eFile process TurboTax should take me to the screens to print my state return for snail mail submission. Right now it continued as if I was done, so I had to go find the screens for printing and mailing my state return.
What's great about it: Accuracy, thoroughness, ease of use
What's not so great: One small (easily corrected) issue at the end; okay, one small one at the beginning also

Having made it all the way to the filing stage, got good, clear instructions on how to go back to Federal return and apply my refund to 2014 Estimated tax.
