This year, entry of my US Govt 1099 resulted in counting my Medicare Part D as Withholding. Had to go back and change entries. Was sure I had entered them correctly.
Caught it during Final Review.
Software is still the GREATEST! Been using it since it was first develoed for the Commodore!!
What's great about it: Gets easier every year.
What's not so great: 1099 Form entry was confusing

Turbo Tax Big Easy!

I have used Turbo Tax now for 5 consecutive years. During that time, I have changed jobs, been unemployed, and lived in 3 different states. Turbo tax handled it all. I never consider going to a "professional" tax preparation company. I get just as good or better results with Turbo Tax and it costs a fraction of what the "professionals" would charge. Keep it up. I intend to use Turbo Tax every year moving forward.
What's great about it: Easy to follow and answers all questions

I've used TurboTax for many years, always successfully. The increase in filing fees will soon drive me away from efiling.

I've been using Turbo Tax for several years and I've NEVER had a problem Filing my Federal and State tax returns is easy and I totally trust Turbo Tax to give me a complete error-free tax return.

To easy?

Like the way I could "pick and choose" what area to fill out. Allows one to piecemeal return as materials arrive in mail rather than waiting until you have a bushel basket of records and then try to cram while burning the midnight oil. Almost makes it fun to file. (underline almost!)
What's great about it: Nicely set up and organized
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Having information transferred from the previous filing is helpful in identifying information that needs to be added or deleted. The error checking feature a comforting in knowing that you have enter the appropriate information.

Process very comprehensive. Instructions easy to follow. Downloading previous year's return allowed me to complete the entire process in less than one hour. Previous returns sometimes took days to complete. Keep improving (and simplifying) and I'll be a customer for life.

TurboTax is very helpful in the preparation of your federal tax return. Assistance could be enhanced by incorporating more IRS regulations into TurboTax or telling the tax preparer where to find the relevant IRS regulations.
The quality of assistance for preparation of the California tax return is lower than that offered for the federal return. Some needed changes are minor. For example, we filed a joint return, but our names (and they are short) do not fit on sides 2, 3, 4, and 5 of form 540. A more significant issue is that the TurboTax instructions for calculating taxable vs. non-taxable investment income were counterproductive. Fortunately TurboTax gives you access to the actual tax forms where you can directly input the correct figures.
All in all TurboTax is a good deal and considerably cheaper than hiring qualified help.
